“Luxury Spa Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

I stayed here with my friend on 16 November for the Spa Break. The spa facilities were somewhat of a let down from the hype I have seen both here on other sites and would say it is much more of a health club and we found it difficult to occupy ourselves for more than an hour. I cannot fault the treatments I received however and they made feel the most relaxed i have felt in a long time so a big thanks to Helen for the expert way she carried them out. The hotel is a lovely building and the real fires that were burning in most public areas were very welcome and all the staff attentive and courteous. The food we ate in the restaurant was great and I would like to make a special mention to Claire from the restaurant, Wes from the bar and Marrek who greeted us on reception for their warm and friendly professionalism which made our stay extremely enjoyable and that extra bit special. Keep up the good work.

I stayed here with work and had a wonderful meal and a great session in the spa and gym. The room was beautiful and I slept really well. The fireplace is a great feature and I loved my stay in this wonderful hotel. I'd recommend this highly.

I have just come back from a fabulous DB&B weekend at this hotel. The facilities were great, the food fabulous, the grounds gorgeous and the staff extremely welcoming and helpful. Am planning my next stay already. Great value for money - food, rooms and spa.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are in the more moden annexe, which means you don't get to go up the grand stairc...

We were looking forward to a luxurious and restful break and were not disappointed. The hotel felt lavish with wonderful grounds to take a stroll (long or short). The surroundings as well a the interior were impeccable. The service of the staff met the right balance of professional, courteous and yet friendly and personal. We were overwhelmed by the room. Wow! We did feel like we had arrived at the most magnificent stately home and been treated like Lord and Lady.
The food in the restaurant was good, as were the lovely spa facilities.
We are already booking to return - so that we can take our children there as we discovered that they have the most divine welcome pack for children - equipped with their own signing in book (including stool to reach up to sign it), ice cream on arrival, etc. The hotel is set so close to the centre (Stratford Upon Avon) that it makes absolutely the most ideal place to stay if we take them for a boat trip, visit the theatre, ghost tour, bear or Beatrix Potter shop. Honestly - we can not WAIT to go back! Wonderful memories!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Caroline room and it was well worth it (special occasion). We have been there once...

Had a teachers' treat away with my daughter. The food was excellent, and the spa facilities fun. The treatments that were included were on the short side and there was a noisy pump in the bathroom that could have been annoying, but we decided over all that so many other things made up for it. The original decor in the old buildings was of course lovely, but the main selling point was the staff. The service was nothing short of perfect: attentive, friendly and five star without being obsequious. Would definitely go back

We booked a spa package at the hotel for 12 ladies, on a hen weekend. The weekend was just fabulous. We drove to the impressive Jacobean hotel along a drive, lined with mature trees and with glimpses of a wonderful golf gorse. Promising tracks wound there way through the trees towards an obelisk.
The reception staff were welcoming and efficient. However, the assistant manager, Ben was a joy and ensured the weekend went without hitch. It is rare to find someone so young, able to be so good humoured and entertaining, whilst ensuring the service was faultless.
We walked to our clean and well-equipped rooms through a huge, oak paneled sitting room, complete with a magnificent fire place and roaring fire. Thank you to Anthony who ensured the fire was well stoked with logs and gamely posed for photos with the largest tongs I have ever seen. Also thank you to the thoughtful member of staff (we thought he looked a bit like Sting), who saw me taking a photo of the staircase and asked if I would like a history of the hotel. Next morning a short history of the hotel had been left outside my room.
The spa was a delight and we relaxed on warm seats with scented oils, after swimming and testing out the sauna and steam room. The massage was perfect and to be recommended.
On one night we ate in the restaurant and my daughter said the duck was the best meal she had ever tasted. The waiter had worked in the Isle of Man and was a delight. For the next night, we all dined in the Oak dining room, which was just perfect as we were on our own and able to chat, dance and laugh without bothering anyone.
We over-looked the terrace and on both nights were entertained by wedding fireworks - thank you to both wedding parties.
If you are looking for a hotel with warm and welcoming staff - where nothing is too much trouble, wonderful food, a good wine list, beautiful grounds, a scenic golf course, a relaxing spa and a gym - then this is the hotel for you. I cannot recommend it highly enough and just hope we can afford to go back. It wasn't the price of the hotel that was the problem - it is just the added costs of the flights from the island where we live.

We have just returned from a one night dinner bed and breakfast deal. We regularly stay at hotels on weekends away and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed. The beautiful woodpanelled sitting rooms with roaring fire where you could relax with a coffee or drink was so welcoming. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere with jazz playing softly in the background. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. I couldnt fault the food at dinner or breakfast. We paid an extra £20 for a room upgrade, Im not sure what the other rooms were like, but ours was a large room with a large bathroom and separate toilet. All spotless. The spa was fantastic, I loved the outdoor vitality pool. Everything was to the highest standard throughout the hotel and spa and we will definately return. I felt we had very good value for money and would not hesitate to recommend.
