One of our regular local restaurants and by far the best in Stratford. Superb food, excellent service and a great intimate atmosphere. The taster menu is well worth trying even though its expensive, it is worth it with or without the wines. it also changes every month unlike some other restaurants elsewhere who do a similar thing but hardly ever change the menu.

Overall top class, try it you will not be disappointed.

We had a very nice pre-theatre dinner.
3 courses for 16.50 was good value.
Very tasty food, albeit portion a little on the small side.
My smoked salmon risotto with a poached egg was very delicious. Spicy sausages with new potatoes were flavorful, probably could have done with few more potatoes. Peach melba (ice cream + peach + raspberry) tasted lovely, maybe could have done with a biscuit on the side, just to add a bit of crunch.
Pleasant, efficient service.

This was our second visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the first and decided to take my Mom for a 'big' birthday, always a risk to recommend somewhere but...... Fabulous both times!
Great service, exquisite food, highly recommended.
My Mom manged to eat 3 courses for the first time in ages and said it was the best meal she had eaten for years!

Went to No.9 Restaurant last night (2 Oct 2012). First time of dining there.

This is a small but very nice restaurant that I would suggest you book if you want to go any night of the week.

The four of us had an excellent meal. Good wines and drinks selection.

Menu varied and two of us were really stuck on what to have between the very tempting starters and main courses.

Restaurant is up stairs (narrow, be warned) but very nice and intimate. Service very good, Chef is excellent, presentation of the food is very good and the food itself is fantastic.

Highly recommended but beware ... it is fairly expensive. Worth it as a treat.

Having visited No 9 before (pre theatre) and had a wonderful meal, my wife and I visited with family on a monday lunch time. We found the restaurant busy (for a monday) and as per our experience before a good value lunch menu that the restaurant is well valued for. My wife and parents meals were very good, well recomended. My wife had a lovely celery soup and sausage and mash which was on the specials (why not do a veggie option?). My salad of blue cheese, pear and walnuts was good without been spectacular or showing great culinary skill. It was a good solid dish. Yet, my Gnocci option with mozzarella and tomao sauce, felt and tasted like it had come out of a packet and was not fresh or hand made in the slightest. In fact it signalled lazy cooking and a compromise on food standards and was an insult to a lovely restaurant that has such high culinary standards and well regarded reviews. At least the gnocci could have been hand made, not hard to do and could have used some tasty seasonal veg such as mushrooms or courgettes to liven it up. I could have made it myself to be honest. A shame. My pudding though was good, a ginger parkin, nice texture with a good quality ice cream. No 9 is a good restaurant, but needs to provide more vegetarian options and at least show an interest in vegetables and how they are created (see Hugh F.W). The staff were fine, pleasant, friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was good for a lunch time. No' 9 is a good place to go, but could be so much better.
