We stayed 2 nights here on a pre-Christmas and pre-baby break. Stratford is very pretty at Christmas with the lights and old building make it feel very quaint. We were in the Sumach room on the very top floor as I had requested a quiet room on a top floor. The room was lovely, a good size with a really comfy king size bed. The pillows and bedding were great and we slept really well both nights. The bathroom was a bit tight though, with a shower over a bath which I struggled to get into as the side of the bath was very high. It was quite noisy in the bathroom too as there was an air system. Another negative we didn't realise on booking was that the room we were given had an adjoining door to another room, and therefore we could hear conversations from that room. Fortunately, our neighbours were generally quiet and it wasn't an issue. However, if I was to stay again I would request a room without adjoining door. Breakfast was tasty, you could request whatever you wanted really. The location of the hotel is perfect, being only a short walk to he shops and town centre. It is opposite the RSC theatre too. Hotel has a decent sized car park, so this wasn't a worry. Free wifi, which worked with no problems was a bonus too.

Room Tip: High floor. Ask for no adjoining door in the room.

Very nice hotel, in front of the Shakespeare theatre.

Nice tea afternoon and nice breakfast.

Modernize not so long ago, offers very nice rooms, great service and very comfortable. It was slightly warm for my test in general.

Very high standards for English Hotel that I have had to stay in.

We wanted to see the Christmas market and lights so booked a night here. Our room was lovely with a fantastic bathroom, deep bath and walk in shower. Even had fresh fruit in the room and a fridge with fresh milk. Our evening meal was a Christmas menu and as we ate a choir of six young men sang beautifully. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were gorgeous. We were in Elder room. Very nice too.

Stayed a single night. Recently updated hotel. Lovely modern and tasteful. Very clean, wonderful bar, restaurant. Free and fast wifi. Staff very helpful, great breakfast. Car park is easily missed so call the hotel and they give you better directions than your satnav! If you're staying in Stratford, stay here it's great!

We stayed at The Arden Hotel ,in the Spruce room for two nights, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room was of a very good standard, but some people may say it was a little on the small side. The bathroom was clean, but the bath had what looked like burn marks in the enamel on bottom of it. A little moan for us was that there was no natural lighting in the bathroom and the extractor fan didn't work. The bathroom floor was like a block of ice to walk barefoot on (underfloor heating on the next refurbishment?). Breakfast was adequate but there was something lacking, the atmosphere was bland and the buffet selection could be improved. Cooked breakfast was average, and for £20.00 if you are not B&B is quite shocking. We had dinner on the first night and the food was just average. In an almost empty restaurant we had a couple seated right next to us, which ruined what was supposed to be a romantic meal. Service was very erratic and although the staff were lovely, it wasn't a smooth operation for a hotel of this calibre. There are plenty of dining options nearby so this would no way detract from the overall hotel experience.

The location of the Hotel was fantastic, situated opposite the Swan theatre. The reception staff were very professional and friendly and I loved the muted décor, including the tree wallpaper on the rambling corridors. The bed and linen were fantastic and led to a really good nights sleep. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it. One final thing, newspapers are not complimentary in the mornings, which considering the price of the rooms would be a nice gesture.

The Arden Hotel is a really lovely place to stay. The room we had (Hawthorn) was a decent size standard room. Nicely decorated with a queen size bed, decent wardrobe space for a weekend and a mini fridge and safe. The bathroom was adequate, with shower over a very deep bath. Personally, I prefer a walk in shower, which would have allowed a little more space in the bathroom, but I realise it is a personal preference. The room was very warm and cosy and heating could be adjusted to suit. The hot drinks tray provided a wide selection of tea, fruit & herbal teas as well as hot chocolate and ground coffee with cafetiere. There was fresh milk and still and sparkling water in the fridge. There was a small plate with fresh fruit in the room, which was a nice touch. The room was spotlessly clean and fresh.

The rooms, all named after trees, are positioned on long and disjointed corridors with lots of different changes in level via a range of different stairs, all of which make it very quirky and quaint, although could be very difficult for anyone with mobility difficulties.

The staff were very friendly and courteous, and were always very happy to help. Breakfast was very good, with a good choice and freshly cooked to order. A couple of minor improvements would be that items that should have been, were not always available on the table and had to be requested e.g. cups and saucers, milk, marmalade and butter were not available on different days. toast and tea did not always appear after ordering and had to be requested again. However, staff were always apologetic and happy to oblige in getting whatever was requested.
The coffee room and residents lounge bar were both very pleasant and comfortable and provided nice surroundings in which to take some time to chat or read and relax.

The location couldn't be better. it is bang opposite the Swan Theatre and a very short stroll to the shops and restaurants.

All in all, a real gem of a hotel and one where we will definitely be spending more time in the future.

The Arden is the nearest hotel to the Shakespeatre Theatre in Stratford. Indeed the front door is only about 40 metres from the entrance to the Swan, so one could literally remain in the restaurant until the final bell rings, before dashing across the street to take a seat.in the theatre. The Hotel was completely refurbished about four years ago, and is decorated in a palette of muted olive, light grey, cream and beige. Even the exterior timbers of the old house are painted light grey, instead of the customary black, giving it a curious ghostly appearance. As a hotel it is almost perfect, with great comfort and facilities, just spoiled by small glitches in service and house-keeping. Likewise the Brasserie is of a very high standard (must be close to getting a Michelin Star), but marred by a few little details in service and cuisine. All in all, an escape to the Arden is now a much more attractive proposition than it was to the Forest for Rosalind and her companions in 'As You Like It'.

Room Tip: Ask to look at them before choosing. Every one is different.
