“Two day stay/National Trust base”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Booked two single rooms for my friend and I with a deal on Late rooms, supposed to be reduced from £128 a night to £64.80. My room was a small double but clean modern and comfortable. The room was worth the reduced price but I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. Breakfast was extensive and staff were friendly and helpful. We ate one night in the small bar and the meal was reasonably priced and enjoyable. We were using the hotel as a base to visit National Trust properties and it was perfectly situated for this. The hotel offers a pool, steam room, small gym and pitch and putt. The local town had several Indian and other restaurants.

I stayed here last night with my girlfriend and we managed to find a double room on late rooms for £59 last minute. When we were arrived we were impressed by the drive through the grounds leading to reception, rabbits littered the lawn and the surrounding trees were lovely. When we arrived at reception we spoke to a young lady who gave us the same price as we saw online without the faff of booking it on the iphone, she was genuine and helpful and told us about the swimming pool and sauna (open till 10pm!) and showed us to our room. The room, a standard double, had a big bed and the bath managed to fit us both in too, all the cosmetics were made by The White Company and the shower was high quality with great pressure, made by Grohe, which according to my brother (ex-bathroom salesman) is a premium high quality brand.

The pool was great and the sauna was just incredible for the price, there were clean towels and shower gels in the changing rooms as well as the normal hair dryer etc. It was even more impressive in my opinion that there was a free swimming costume loan available as my girlfriend didn't have a costume, and i thought we wouldn't be able to make full use of the pool.

The bed was also extremely comfortable for us and the room also had a tv and ipod dock/radio alarm clock thing that came in handy. The FREEEEEEE breakfast that was included in our room price was also great with full english/continental options and excellent coffee and tea.

There was also a stack of free bottled water and biscuits etc. near reception that you could grab on your way out the door which was great for the car journey the next day, there is also a well equipped nice bar with a lot of personality that is very reasonably priced.

I stayed here as a couple and every time that i need to stay in Kenilworth i will stay here again, and i hope to see the same staff if i do because they were so welcoming, I have never stayed anywhere that was better value for money than this.

The accommodation building was separate from the reception and was not a beautiful building and maybe a little tired around the edges, but for us that gave the place even more pluck and made it more of a gem to us.

They even had toothbrush and toothpaste for sale, good quality ones too for only a pound for the brush and £1.50 for the toothpaste, again so refreshing that they aren't trying to suck every penny out of you.

I will stay there whenever i need to go anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Kenilworth

LOVED IT!

Room Tip: we stayed in room 10 on the corner - bit more privacy although they have a slightly annoying safety...

Stayed for 3 days for a wedding, and the whole experience at the hotel was great. The employees were extremely helpful and friendly. In particular I want to mention Mr Tony R. who went above and beyond to sort out a meal for our 2 year old who took a nap during dinner time, all without prompting. Everyone seemed really happy to work there.

Beds were good, rooms were good although a safe would have been useful.

Loved the bunnies.

I stayed here for a three day conference - conference rooms are good with natural lighting - bedroom was small but comfortable. However the bathroom was rather basic and looked tired - more importantly there were real problems with the shower water pressure and lack of really hot water. I complained but it seemed to have little effect. Shame really as otherwise the place is not too bad. But at a minimum you expect hot water in a hotel!

Room Tip: Check quality of room and plumbing

Stayed here for three nights. Staff are just lovely, particularly Pietr and Tomas in the bar, nothing was too much trouble for either of them, they are a credit to the hotel.

Pool area very clean. Bedroom and ensuite also very clean, had a double room which was small as was the bed, glad to have been on single occupancy as it certainly would have been cramped for two people. The room did look in need of a freshen up, ie: painting of walls and ceiling, 'hot' and 'cold' tap markers were missing, and the shower is crying out for a pressurised system, but always with lashings of hot water. Bed really comfy, fabulous!

Ate in the hotel each night, good selection on the menu. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked and tasty.

Sadly on our last night there was a family group in the bar who insisted on having the TV on so loud we were shouting to be heard, the staff did ask them turn it down, and to respect the diners around them which did happen for a while........ later this group then sadly turned on a gentleman who we believe was the duty manager becoming very aggressive with him and rather racist. Shame they couldn't have been forcibly removed off the premises as no employee should have to tolerate behaviour like this regardless of them being paying guests. I would suggest the hotel either put the TV in a smaller room as a residents lounge or just remove the TV permanently and let the diners enjoy some background music as opposed to boxing and general crappy Saturday night TV!

We have just had a one night stay here (8th June) with our 18 month old son. I cannot praise the staff of this lovely hotel enough, they were fantastic from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The food was excellent, we chose to have our evening meal in the bar as could eat at 6pm, although the barman actually let us order at 5.40pm. The hotel itself is beautiful, great location and grounds. Our room, which was located on the ground floor for ease with a little one, was very clean and had a travel cot (Mamas & Papas) provided ready for us. If I had to be really really picky then I would say a black out blind would have been helpful but the blind in the room was very dark by normal standards anyway. My husband was pleased to see 'decent' toilet roll, not the usual 2 ply thin paper usually provided in hotels, but quilted toilet paper!
The staff were very accommodating providing our sons milk and warming up for us both evening and morning.
The pool was very clean, lovely changing rooms with towels and lockers with keys provided.
Breakfast was excellent, great selection of hot and cold, lots of staff to attend to everyone - even at 7.30am on a Sunday.
All in all a 10/10 hotel & staff. I would recommend to anyone but from personal experience those with children you can't go wrong with this hotel.
