“Very good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

Several colleagues and myself stayed here yesterday and overnight and found the hotel very changed from when I used to stay here 15 years ago.

Rooms: Small but clean, good mattresses, lumpy pillows but a good nights sleep never the less.
Food: Dinner was very good, starter was very nice, main of braised beef, a bit over-cooked with vegetables, but no complaints, finished by a rich sticky toffee pudding, service was very good indeed for the whole meal.
The conference room was just right for our needs with everything required and good break refreshments, fresh fruits etc.

The whole place looked bright and fresh and I would recommend it.

Bed uncomfortable, pillows hard, TV remote broken and the food was awful....overcooked burger with soggy chips and soggy onion rings!

I stay in alot of hotels and have stayed in other Q Hotels without issue, i've even stayed here before, but this expeience will stop me staying again.

Very poor.

Attended a conference (Phoenix Trading) this last weekend and just wanted to say thank you to the hotel staff for being so friendly, helpful and efficient - esp when attending to the refreshments aand meal we had on Saturday night. I thought the hotel was lovely and would certainly be more than happy to attend another conference there.

We stayed on the one night spa break which included lunch on arrival, a 3 course dinner and buffet style breakfast.
The room was fine and clean. Lunch was wonderful and even though it was described as a light lunch there were lots of it! Dinner was lovely and so was the buffet style breakfast.
The hotel staff were always smart, very polite and friendly and I'd like to give a special mention to Simon, the bar manager. He was excellent - a real credit to the hotel!
The spa treatment (one hour detox massage) was out of this world. The therapist was also very pleasant and professional (I just wish I could remember her name).
However, the spa itself is very disappointing. The reception looks tired and dated. The receptionist, although she was very pleasant, was casually dressed (but not smart casual) and she walked around in bare feet which I thought was completely inappropriate. She did put something on her feet when she walked through the pool area .... scruffy looking trainer type shoes. Not the look of a professional and certainly not what I'd expect at a spa.
The pool area is very small and instead of relaxing by the pool after my massage, we had to endure screaming kids who's parents appeared to have no consideration to other guests. Unfortunately, no one else could swim because the family were taking up the entire pool - splashing, screaming and jumping in. The pool area itself is clean but again it looks very dated.
I have no complaints about the hotel whatsoever and I had a great stay. However, we were there on a spa break and I do not recommend a Spa break at this hotel and my rating is based purely on the spa experience.
Apart from the massage (which was fantastic) the rest of the afternoon was anything but relaxing.

Dear SJPDS,
Many thanks for taking the time to post us your feedback.
I am delighted to hear that the service in the bar from Simon, the lunch and breakfast offering and our service was to your liking.
Your comments regarding the look of the Spa & pool, the uniform of the leisure club staff and the amount of other guests in the pool itself have been noted. We do allocate certain times when the pool is blocked off for adult and Spa users only, however on occasion out side of these times everybody is allowed to access the pool.
It's important for us to monitor the feedback and all your comments have been passed onto the Leisure Club Manager.
I am glad the Spa treatment was great and many thanks again.
Kind regards
Andrew Fox
