a relaxing time while working at National Bowls Championships
A wonderful retreat where we could relax away from the hustle and bustle of the Bowls National Championships - for the umpteenth time for our annual trip north to Warwickshire

Hidden Gem
It’s hard to realise you are right on the outskirts of Kenilworth and Warwick when at North Mere as it feels very rural.
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and all the facilities required are provided. Internet is adequate as described on their website.
Direct booking process was very good and also best value.
Highly recommended and will return

Catching up with old friends and making some new.
Beautifully situated on the outskirts of Kenilworth, just a short stroll to the Castle. So peaceful and the cottage is fabulous. Very spacious for 4 people with two ensuite bedrooms. We will definitely holiday here again.

The Granary
This was our second visit to the Granary, a very clean and well appointed cottage with everything we needed with comfy beds and sofas (always a bonus!) It's in a great location, very rural and quiet with fab views but close to Kenilworth (a nice little town), Birmingham, Coventry and Stratford.

North Mere Old Granary 2 bedroom barn conversion
Beautifully converted spacious property, comfortable and very well equipped. Lovely farm surroundings.
Excellent location for exploring Warwickshire and the Cotswolds - Warwick Castle, Stratford on Avon, Cadbury World, Charlecote Park.
Kenilworth is a pleasant market town with plenty of shops and supermarkets. Good traditional pub food at The Clarendon Arms opposite Kenilworth Castle.

Great location and beautiful cottage
One of the best cottages we've stayed in, well equiped, nicely furnished and decorated. Kenilworth is really close, which had everything we needed for our stay, loads of NT houses to visit in the sea, Stratford, Warwick and Birmingham all within easy driving. Very impressed and highly recommended and loved the gorgeous ginger cat too! Our only very small gripe would be is that the lighting was a bit dim, maybe LED bubs would help

The Granary at Northmere offers a very welcoming, relaxing and well-equipped holiday base.
Thank you to all in Northmere's house-keeping, gardening and administration teams for your care in creating such an attractive, clean and pleasant setting for guests. Tamarind gave us lots of patient help in sorting dates. We loved chatting to Henry about the farm and colourful gardens. There are lovely country walks along the footpaths to Kenilworth and local hamlets. Ambling along the many canal paths is a good way to see the countryside and villages and get a feel for the industrial past while discovering some pleasant pubs.
The Granary's kitchen is well-equipped. Upgrades like the bigger fridge-freezer are note-worthy and the new washing machine certainly proved handy after the summer showers and storms! We appreciated the welcome pack of goodies and the early arrival time allowed to make the most of the first evening. A suggestion might be to provide some higher chairs please in the seating area for those with hip/knee issues - the sofas are a little low for all to access easily. The two shower rooms and separate cloakroom are ideal for couples holidaying together.
Northmere provides a great central point in the Midlands as it is easy to get to Birmingham (go by train from Warwick), Bosworth (for history buffs), Coventry, Leamington Spa, Leicester and Stoneleigh Abbey (a centre for weddings and gatherings in non-Covid times). Kenilworth itself offers well-maintained, safe parks; good shopping and eateries. We particularly liked 'The Deli on the Hill' and 'Harringtons on the Hill' near the castle ... the staff were very friendly and helpful.
All in all, we were pleased to have revisited Northmere. Well done for keeping going through strange Covid times. We wish everyone in the team well for the season ahead and hope that it will not be too long before we return.

Excellent holiday cottage
Granary cottage is in a very rural location but only a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive into Kenilworth. The cottage is very well equipped and very clean. It has a spacious feel and also has a lovely garden. We couldn’t fault it on any level.
Kenilworth castle is worth a visit.
Harringtons’s on the Hill is a great place to eat. The Clarendon Arms does a lovely Sunday lunch.
We would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to visit beautiful Warwickshire.

Rural perfection in Kenilworth
The Granary is one of a small set of cottages on Pleasance Farm, set in tranquil countryside about a mile to the west of Kenilworth. It has two large bedrooms on the first floor, one twin bedded and one double bed. Each bedroom has an en-suite shower room. The ground floor is an open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room, with an extra space down a couple of steps which opens onto the garden. There is a hallway with space for coats and shoes/boots, plus a cloakroom.
The cottage is perfectly appointed and very comfortable for 4 people, and there is the potential for a 5th bed, although we did not use this. The kitchen is great for meals, with both a conventional oven and a microwave, and a large round dining table seats everyone easily.
Outside at the front is good parking for cars, while at the back is a lovely little garden,
a patio with table and chairs for sitting out and an outlook across the working farmyard to a green field often filled with the farm's friendly cows.
On weekends in the summer, the farm has a great little cafe on the lawn in front of the farmhouse, serving drinks and cakes - we found these excellent and recommend you try them out.
The location is great for walking - there are several footpaths running nearby. One of these takes you direct to Kenilworth Castle, about half a mile away. A tour of the castle is a must - mostly ruins, but very impressive ruins. The same path takes you to Castle Hill, with two pubs, a restaurant and two cafes. We recommend all of these places, especially the Deli on the Hill (for lunch) and Harringtons on the Hill (either lunch or dinner). There are also many other good places to eat in Kenilworth town centre, a little further away, plus shops if you would like to cater for yourselves.
The location is ideally placed for touring the country south and east of Birmingham. Warwick and Leamington are very close, but the many villages in "The Forest of Arden" are delightful, along with the canals which criss-cross the region. The fine flight of locks at Hatton should not be missed. There are also excellent country pubs, many with great food - although you are advised to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Kenilworth is a delightful South Warwickshire town. From the earliest of times Kenilworth has been strategically important and Kenilworth Castle was one of the most impressive castles of Elizabethan England. There are lovely walks around the farm and ruins of the castle and Abbey in Kenilworth.
Kenilworth has lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from and a range of independent shops. There are also a couple of supermarkets to stock up.
Getting around
Kenilworth has good public transport links by bus and train station. Our cottages are located a couple of miles from Kenilworth so it is easiest to get around by car.
