I stay here every year in June for work and absolutely love the place. You always get a really warm welcome from the owners, who go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms are all really well appointed - I've stayed here so many times I've probably stayed in them all. The breakfast is fantastic - huge selection of cooked and continental options. The bar in the evening is welcoming and has a good selection of ales and wine. If you say on a Monday evening you can order fish and chips from the local chip shop and they will be delivered to you in the bar. The pub doesn't serve evening meals but the staff are happy to recommend local places to eat such as The Clarendon. Staying here makes working away from home so much easier.

So, went there for evening drinks and then breakfast the following morning. Both perfect. Excellent service, great atmosphere and perhaps the nicest bacon I've eaten. Brilliant. Easy going friendly helpful staff made it a great occasion. Don't pass this place by.

Found The Old Bakery on Trip Advisor, and as it sounded perfect for our requirements decided to visit. A warm welcome, we were shown to our room (a large double / twin) and our initial thoughts were very positive. There was good attention to detail ( two bottles of water, decent quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate, as well as nice toiletries). A good nights sleep, and a fab breakfast ( fruits, cereals, full English if required, porridge - you name it, you could have it). This is a very nice place to visit and stay, and we certainly intend to go again.

We booked 7 rooms at Old Bakery for a family reunion. The location was perfect, rooms were pleasant and breakfast excellent but one big disappointment was the welcome and service from the barman. He was very miserable. Such a shame.

As a result of the comments made by Kingprawn999 we communicated with him to establish the full facts. He made the point that the person they have complained about was possibly shy and not naturally outgoing. The regular Bar Person was away celebrating his birthday. As a result of this experience we will ensure in future whoever is on duty provides the level of welcome and service for which we are known. Therefore, we appreciate the comments made and as a result our usual high standards of service will be improved further.
Unfortunately the experience appears to have influenced the rating levels given which we feel is unjustified.
