“Reasonably priced and comfortable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

Stayed for one night and having read reviews we expected little.
Our check in was speedy and welcoming.
The room was recently refurbished and very comfortable. The shower was lovely and powerful.

Only flaw was the cost of the optional breakfast which we skipped.

Had works Christmas party here on 15th December and what a complete waste of money, sat at the table for nearly an hour before anyone made an appearance with food. Soup was served at room temperature and from there things just went downhill, plates came out warm and that was the only thing that did, after 10 -15 mins the turkey came out (not even warm) followed by mushy vegetables 10 minutes later, other people in our party never even got vegetables on the table. Management were trying to fob people off saying it was the 1st party of the season (a week before Christmas ??) we would all receive a complementary drink, we politely told him no thank you a full refund would be sufficient, the only credit I would give the hotel is that a refund was given.

Just returned from a 1 night stay for a christmas party night organised by the hotel. What can i say ! this place has nothing on faulty towers ! cold christmas dinner, the worst service i have ever come across in any hotel. we were the lucky ones that actualy got something to eat some people were not even served . One good point, Nice bed. Would i stop there again ! no chance. could have been a good night but totaly let down by lack of trained staff and lack of staff and ones that spoke fluent english

Room Tip: stay somewhere else.

Good bits first: Rooms were ok, clean and tidy. Probably better than you could expect from a no frills motel charging £50 for a B&B. Staff generally were pleasant and check in was quick with no hassles. The ' help your self' breakfast was ok with all the usual choices.
Unfortunately we were not doing a journey breaking one night stop over. We we're attending our companies Christmas bash. The problem wasn't that the 3 course service started 30 mins later than advertised, but the fiasco that unfolded before us. Some had to ambush waiters to get their starters long after others on their table had finished. Then after a 45 mins pause, obviously to digest the tepid soup, the main course, or rather the lack of. The Turkey was served onto warm plates then we waited and waited and waited for the veg Eventually, after, another 30 mins the veg, but buy now the plates were stone cold so we sent them back. After this things went really down hill. No gravy available and the poor group on the table behind us were still sat there staring wistfully at cold plates with a cold piece of Turkey, two pigs in blankets and two stuffing balls. Apparently their veg was still cooking..rather they ran out and had to defrost some more. At this stage most gave up on the meal determined that it would not spoil the evening. Not even sure if the pudding made any appearance. So I wouldn't say don't stay here, just don't expect more of them than B&B. I can recommend a very good chip shop in Cubbington, only a 5 min drive and always piping hot.

On business travel I have stayed in both single and double (single occupancy) rooms at this hotel. Single rooms have been far too small and uncomfortable. Double rooms on the whole quite spacious - so if you are travelling alone and want to stretch out, book a double!
There have been faults - broken furniture; oddly placed or awkward situated power sockets; showers taking 5 minutes to produce warm water; poor service in the restaurant and bar etc.
However, there is always a smile with service at reception; beds are comfy in the doubles; decent size flat screen tv's with freeview for multi channel choice; plenty of car parking spaces; food - though not a large choice - is reasonable. Note as well as the indian or italian choices in the restaurant, the bar offers further variety of meals. Breakfasts are self service which is great when you are in a rush - no waiting time.
If you can get a last minute rate of £ mid forties to low fifties - recommended. Otherwise, do the plusses outweigh the minusses?

The location of this hotel is very good if you have a car. Its set surrounded by lots of fields but close enough to main roads/motorways. Bedrooms were tidy and spacious; the bed was lovely very big for a double. A few problems in our room where there were a few cracks in the walls, and the carpet had a few stains on, but for a one night stay it didn’t bother us. Bathroom and the view were very good points. On the night we used the hotel restaurant to eat. The service wasn’t great, but food was nice. There never seemed to be many staff anywhere in the hotel and every member of staff we spoke to never seemed too sure of anything we were asking. Breakfast was lovely, very nice selection of hot and cold food. I would stay here again, but would eat somewhere else on the night.

i stayed at the hotel on Saturday 24/11/12 on entering i found the hotel to be clean and tidy .the staff were also friendly and helpful.the bedrooms were clean and tidy, our bedroom was over the carpark and near the road but it didn't disturb our sleep.our evening meal was tasty the only slight problem was the service was on the slow side .breakfast was self service and plenty of it.i would definitively stay here again no higher praise can be given than that.
