We ate here our first night in Newcastle, as it was close to our hotel, and had dad some good reviews on this site and elsewhere.

The service was very attentive and friendly, and the food was very good.

we would recommend this restaurant to others looking for a good meal.

Situated just off Newcastle's quayside Sabatini has a great location and looks good from the outside. Inside, the place has an upscale feel - but is not overpriced. The menu options are wide and varied. This was our second visit - and the service and food was consistent both times. My son had Tournedo di Manza - which was stuffed with Dolcelatto and served with a moreish red wine reduction. The Cannelloni filled with spinach, beef and pork was excellent - as was the chicken and mushrooms with cream. The Brushetta and a selection of the fried courgettes (only way to eat courgettes surely) fries, tomato and green salad - all went down well. I ordered a bottle of Orvieto wine - and the server checked that i knew this was sweet. I didn't - the menu didn't say - and apparently there are 2 types of Orvieto - usually dry - but also a sweet one! Many thanks to the server for pointing that one out.
Overall service and quality and atmosphere are very good - the staff friendly and helpful, especially given the place is very busy. Do book in advance - and well worth a visit.

On the whole this restaurant had decent to quite good food but had what made it was the great service and while Italian themed it still a fun Geordie atmosphere. No comments on the wine as I stuck with beer.

The seafood pasta was the hit while the pizzas were so so.

The food here is a mixed bag, the lamb stew is a stand out, the rest is average to absent! Service is slow to the point of gridlock and lacking that all important polite edge.

I went along with 3 work colleagues for an evening meal. The starters were ok, nothing special and pretty low on the skill front, the sort of stuff that a cub scout might produce as part of his cookery badge. As simple as they were, mine was missing the main ingredient, parma ham. It was quickly taken away and returned 5 minutes later with ham added. However, during the confusion it had gone cold. No apology offered.

Main courses included the decent dish- a rich lamb stew, a standard carbonara and chicken stuffed with salami and cheese. The latter came on its own without anything, this hadn't been explained at the time of ordering. Vegetable sides were quickly ordered. They arrived 10 minutes later and the chicken had gone cold. Yet again, no apology. Once the very basic veg was added to the cost, that pretty boring chicken dish had reached a staggering £17.00 in value - comical, sneaky pricing.

We paid and didn't get any change. We asked for it and guess what, we had to wait again, another 10 minutes. This waiting game had become a big of habit and was a major turn off. As customers we weren't worth the effort for this crowd of clowns. We will be returning the favour and putting no effort into a second visit.

A very welcoming restaurant for a family with 2 young children. They really went out of their way to make our meal as nice as possible. Lovely food, and every single member of staff was very genuinely friendly. We would certainly go back and would highly recommend this restaurant.
