We came here saturday night around quarter to seven, we waited half an hour for the starter to turn up which was antipasti sharing platter oddly with 3 of everything (?) And the cling film from the cheese was still on the plate. I had the tuscan chicken which arrived with 1and a half boiled potato, 2 broccoli pieces and 4 carrot batons, the chicken was dry and the sauce was terrible.my boyfriend had a steak which he said was really good but the chips werent anything special. Sat for ages with card to pay bill no one bothered coming over. Will be going out my way to tell people not to eat here

Ambience: old-fashioned, which is not a criticism, but as you would imagine an Italian family restaurant to be. Approx. 20 tables for four.

Staff & Service: Very friendly & efficient; service was excellent. Went back a second night and was welcomed like a friend.

Food: Quality was high. The two starters I had (stuffed mushrooms & prawn cocktail, not on the same visit!) were large portions. The main courses were about right in size, not huge as in some restaurants, and not inflated by lots of salad or vegetables, so you get what you ordered. The Formaggio sauce with the steak was one of the best I've had with large chunks of cheese. Pasta one night, steak the next, both filling and tasty. I was unadventurous with the desserts, a sharp lemon sorbet & then vanilla ice cream, which were well up to standard.

Menu: A fair bit of choice with plenty of starters. Four main meal sections: pasta (you choose the sauce & the pasta); risotto (again plenty of variety); pizza (thin-based - again several choices); and steaks. There may have been a chicken option but I never got that far into the menu! Not being a great seafood fan I was unadventurous but there was fresh whitebait on the specials' board. Desserts not so numerous but enough choice to satisfy all.

When back in Toon I will certainly make a return visit.
