I’d booked a table for 6 people for 7pm on a Saturday night not taking into account Newcastle were playing at home that day. When we arrived the bar area was full of loud (but well behaved men) enjoying a post match drink. We managed to negotiate our way to the bar and after ordering drinks we were escorted to out table which thankfully was located on the lower level and shielded from the noise coming from upstairs. The staff member (he may have been a manager) who showed us to our table was full of cheeky banter and the staff in general were friendly and efficient. We decided to go for one of the banquet options and chose the Pagoda banquet. After a short wait a huge bowl of tasty sweetcorn and chicken soup was brought out with more than enough soup for the 6 of us and a basket of prawn crackers. This was followed by crispy duck pancakes, of which we didn’t leave a crumb remaining. The 6 main dishes were accompanied with a bowl of special fried rice. My favourites out of the mains were the crispy beef and the king prawns in a spicy Thai style sweet chilli sauce. For a large party like ours the banquet was perfect as we could pick and chose what we wanted although there was nearly a fight over the last king prawn. Our special fried rice and the prawn crackers were refilled upon request and waiters kept us topped up with drinks throughout the meal. If you want to eat at a more sedate pace you might want to stick to the a la carte menu as the waiters don’t give you much time between courses but you can’t fault their attentiveness. Landmark is a great choice for a high quality Chinese banquet in a perfect central Newcastle location and we’ll definitely be back again
