Four of us booked for my uncle's birthday in December for a night with Jason Isaacs.
Both the man himself and the food were fine and for the money a nice start to birthday and Christmas celebrations.
What was bad was..... no one on reception when we arrived and when someone did attend a group that came before us were seen to first. On booking we were told to arrive around 7 as canapés and champagne would be served while we chose our food. This did not happen and when were seated out came the starters. We asked why we were not given a choice and was told that everyone had been telephoned and asked what the party wanted - myself being the only person involved with this booking most certainly had not and neither had one of the groups sharing our table but the third had!!
We asked for an explanation and we were shown what we had "ordered". Fortunately we all agreed that it was acceptable to us even though we would have liked to have a choice ourselves but asked to talk to the Manger - he never came.
The food, as I say, was very nice.
We managed to catch a waiter and ask for some drinks and unfortunately this was the trend for the whole evening.....no one came to tables offering to order drinks. The best was to go to the bar yourself, make an order, tell them to add it to the group's bill and for them to bring them to you.
In most cases like this they fall over you trying to get you to buy drinks - quite the opposite here.
After the meal, Jason came on and he was very good- a mix of Swing and party songs got most people dancing and a good night was had.
Having been here for Special Occasion before I felt that what we got was good value for money but the night was let down by the oversight on the food ordering and the table service.

Dined here for sunday lunch there were 6 of us in the party. The venue is in a lovely setting we were welcomed at the door and made to feel like valued customers. The menu had a good selection the staff were attentive through out. The quality food and excellent service is certainly worth paying that bit extra for.

I’ve been going to Horton Grange on and off for nearly 20 years and never had a bad meal or overall experience.
The restaurant its self is a bit on the “chilly” side but everything else is just about perfect.
Service, choice and quality are all excellent as is value for money, not cheap but worth it.

Horton grange is not a place which gets much passing trade, it's a place to visit for a specific occasion.
Four of us booked for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday.
Upon arrival the reception sets the tone, your are formally greeted, and made to feel as though your custom is appreciated.
The dining room is well set out with lots of room between the tables, the menu is sufficient though the choices are a little limited.
The service was exceptional and really pleasant.
We had three courses each and a glass of wine which came to £125.00, so it's not a typical place for a drop in Sunday lunch/ carvery.
To sum up, if you want to feel like a valued customer and like to be made welcome this is very much the place to dine, but expect to pay for what you get.
We will return again the future,

Dined here for lunch and it was my 1st
Visit.

The venue is in an idilic setting and on
Arrival I was shown into a lovely lounge
Area to await my friend and browse the
Menu.

Good lunchtime selection and I opted for
The prawn and melon cocktail and the
Fresh sea trout for main.

Fresh raspberries with shortbread to finish.

All dishes were excellent.

Wine lovely and host was charming.

We will return next month for sure .
