Now am I reviewing the theatre or the show?

Well, we've never seen a bad performance here and our most recent visit was to see the Propeller production of A Midsummer Night's Dream which was fantastic!

We have been coming to this venue for well over thirty years so that is both before and after the renovation work and I have to say that although decor-wise the work has been a success (apart from the faience tiles in the stalls!) the comfort has suffered as a consequence and I have to echo other reviewers' comments on the uncomfortable seats. Heaven help you through a three and a half hour production of Hamlet!

Both ticket and refreshments prices have sky-rocketed and whereas in the past we always used to order interval drinks we now just take in a bottle of water. Even the ice cream at £2.50 for a tiny tub is too dear.

A trip to The Theatre Royal is always an occasion but prices have become so steep that the treat is now, alas much rarer.

The Theatre Royal always delivers excellent shows, whether it's pantomime or dramas. The only downside is the cost which can be expensive for a family

I come here quite often. It is a beautiful building. I love Theatre productions and I am here every year, without fail for the yearly pantomime with the family. It's a place you must visit if you are in Newcastle.

Saw Ballet Rambert's performance of Rooster last night . Amazing show. Very simple sets, stunning dancing by all of the cast. Particularly enjoyed the Rolling Stones bit.
Theatre Royal excellent as always. Nothing to dislike really. Beautiful old theatre, friendly helpful staff
