we enjoy coming here as it is very spacious and modern with a nice calming atmosphere to read a book or do some research etc. there are a few floors with a lift and well sign posted what is on each floor. there is a cafe downstairs which is quite over priced but very nice selling really nice fresh food. it is a stone's throw from busy northumberland street in newcastle.

Address: Charles Avison Building, 33 New Bridge Street West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AX.
Six spacious floors with books (of course), computers, meeting rooms (available for hire), exhibition space, a small, interesting display (6th floor) of the Newcastle Collection (rare books, pamphlets, watercolours) and, also on the 6th floor, a glass-walled viewing gallery with comfortable seating. The views are nothing out of the ordinary - a glimpse of the upper curve of the Millenium Bridge, the Laing Art Gallery across the road, rooftops - but it is a pleasant area in which to sit and relax.
There is also a cafe on level 2, accessible directly from Princess Square (behind Northumberland Street).
