Description: COOP Chicken House is located just a minutes walk from Newcastle's Central Station on Collingwood Street, dead opposite Revolution Vodka Bar and across the way from some of the town's most popular bars and clubs. We're all about simple food done well with a laid-back & non-fussy approach. Think tables full to bursting with wood-fired chicken, charred corn, sweet potato fries and homemade slaw washed down with a pint or two of the local brew. Whether you are looking to hire the whole venue (capacity 50), a large family booking, a table for two or a lone-wolf business type you'll be met with a warm welcome and some of the finest chicken around at COOP Chicken House. For groups of eight or more please contact us directly to book tables either by phone or email.

Absolutely superb. Simple, well presented, beautifully seasoned chicken, with excellent sides.

The venue is really well done, its intimate but no so much that you feel you are on top of other diners, and the staff are attentive but not overly so.

The food is well priced, and the portions are good.

Particular favourites in the sauces, are the lemon piri piri and the mild lime. The nuclear sauce is very good, just in small doses.

While there is a limited drinks selection, the Rooster Booster from the Wylam Brewery is very light, and goes well with the chicken.

I've been 7 times in the last 5 weeks, so I'm clearly a fan...

I think the whole place is 25 feet wide and we just about walked by it because we were looking for Collingwood Street, thinking that it was an offshoot of Mosley - it isn't. To the casual observer (like me, the out-of-towner), it IS Mosley for a 200 yard stretch by the train station.

The COOP chicken House proves once again the business strategy "do one thing really really well" is awesome for its customers.

For my Canadian friends, this is like Swiss Chalet on steroids - with a myopic focus on chicken (vs. ribs and blah blah blah). ... true fire roasted chicken.

I love the way they offer up a long list of sauces in shot glasses (literally) for dipping. We tried one mild, one medium and one hot. - loved all three.

Staff was off the charts friendly and we had a great dinner. If you like chicken (don't come here looking for anything but chicken!) and find yourself in Newcastle, you MUST stop here for lunch or dinner!

Highly recommend it!

Nice small venue, but never feeling cramped. Staff manage to hit the balance between helpful and distant. Always visible but never pestering. The chicken is to die for. this point cannot be over emphasised. the skin is nice and crispy, the meat is moist and succulent and full of flavour. the sauces are realy good too. served in shot glasses so you can have a few different types in the same sitting. african bbq is nice. naga is nice for about 10 seconds then you want to rip your tongue out. that said, i did use the sauce more than once and im a fanny or spicy things. "skin on fries" were the side, initially seeming like a "look, we've found a way to increase profit margins" they proved themselves straight away and were fluffy and crispy. just right.

New favourite place.

All the food was lovely especially the coleslaw. Tried the nuclear hot sauce and you couldn't have more than a tiny drop insanely spicy!
