“No need to stay in the city centre”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the excellent Jesmond Dene House when we had to bring our son back to university. We have previously used various city centre or Osborne Road hotels but non compare with JDH. Easy access, ample parking, great service and a lovely room. We will certainly return.

Wedding reception for my son and his Geordie lass - absolutely perfect. 70 guests in the Great Hall;- a terrific setting, with lovely garden and wood for us to wander about. The food was fabulous and the service discreet, efficient and friendly. Abi the wedding co-ordinator was incredibly helpful and the MC Lukasz was great. Unable to fault anything. Our family stayed overnight, as did the happy couple (sumptuous apartment for them). Rooms were very comfortable (pricey for a single person because of the supplement). Breakfast was fantastic. Never felt hurried by staff. Altogether a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Opt for a room overlooking garden and wood if possible.

We had our wedding reception in June 2011. Our wedding was absolutely brilliant and on a large part it is thanks to Jesmond dene house. We had high expectations as Jesmond dene is known for being a high class restaurant and hotel. As any other couple we wanted the day to be perfect and couldn't think of a better place to hold the reception.
The great hall was a perfect venue a with a very cosy and romantic feel big enough to hold our 70 guests. Food was brilliant, even the vegetarian options were complimented on by guests. The staff at Jesmond dene were brilliant, the main coordinator on the day was excellent and ran things with a great attention to detail and precision. He dealt very well with any issues and very attentive to our needs, he was there just enough to give us reassurance but not too much to get in the way. For our evening entertainment we arranged ceildh ran by real to reel who were the highlight of the evening. Complimentary rooms were also included which were all very comfortable. Honeymoon suite was very luxurious. The price compared to other places we visited was excellent considering the quality of service, food and venue we got. Real value for money.
Our wedding day truly was a memorable day and our friends, even now, remember how much of a good time they had. Thank you Jesmond dene for making our day so special.

We stayed for a couple of nights before heading on to relatives for Christmas. It was beautifully decked out in Christmas stuff which really set the scene. The room (# 2) was outstanding with very high ceilings and views of the dene. However, the bathroom was even more stunning with loads of original features. The staff were great - although we had a slight hiccup at check out when we were charged the wrong amount due to some computer error. All resolved but it took a while. Great location for access to the night life of Jesmond! And not too far from the city itself.

We held our wedding at Jesmond Dene House on 2nd April 2012 and were over the moon with the venue. We had the ceremony and reception in the Great Hall which provided a beautiful setting for the whole day. The majority of our guests stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights and nobody could find fault with it. The food (especially breakfast!) went down a treat with everyone as did the luxurious bedrooms and wonderful service. Yes it is an expensive choice but we felt that you definitely get what you pay for - it was well worth the money. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend it and can't wait to come back for our next visit!

We've previously had a lovely lunch at Jesmond Dene House Hotel so were looking forward to an equally pleasant Champagne afternoon tea. We were greeted warmly and service was friendly, relaxed and efficient throughout. We were seated in a bright room with a large skylit area - the decor in this room was an unusual mixture of traditional and modern that worked well for our tastes. We were tucked away in a quiet, secluded corner with (the only downside to our afternoon) small and quite uncomfortable chairs. The rest of the room had more comfortable-looking chairs, luck of the draw I guess. The waiting staff asked when we would like our champagne and our glasses were quickly with us. The table was laid with good quality crockery, cutlery and napery. We had a choice of teas and coffee. Both were decent and refilled regularly throughout the afternoon. The staff offered tap water as well. The elegant tiers of food arrived soon after: four finger sandwiches & three fabulous scones each, with butter, jam, cream. Then we each had a maccaron, a profiterole, chocolate Louis (mousse cake on a crispy base wrapped in chocolate) and blackberry cheesecake. I noted other tables had variations - some had strawberry marshmallows, some a fruit tartlet. The sweet dishes fared far better than the savoury - a really light hand with the patisserie at work here and lots of depth. The sandwiches were basic but fresh, the cheese scone was heavenly: light and full of gutsy flavour. It was a laid-back, enjoyable afternoon, we felt comfortable taking our time and we'll come back.

I travelled back to Newcastle, my home town, from Perth Australia to attend a family wedding. I chose Jesmond Dene House based on the reviews from Trip Advisor and I was thrilled by my choice. I arrived at Newcastle Airport to an unexpected snow storm - a bit different to the weather I'd left behind in Australia. After picking up a hire car and negotiating my way to the hotel I was welcomed by the staff and shown to a gorgeous room overlooking the gardens. From the minute I arrived to the day I left I was shown amazing courtesy and friendliness by all staff at Jesmond Dene House; nothing was too much trouble for them. I was always greeted by name and after the 2nd day they remembered my preferance for a glass of shiraz after being out and about for the day. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel whenever I return to Newcastle and can highly recommend it to all and sundry.
