Premier Inn Newcastle Quayside
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

The location was great with bars and restaurants on the quayside and the city centre a 10-15 minute walk away. We were having a 'quieter' less boozy weekend away and the staff put us on the quieter floor away from large groups which was a nice consideration. The reception lady was friendly and helpful at check in.
We took advantage of the prebookable parking underneath with the car park which was great.
The room was clean and if being nit picky we thought the hotel was a bit tight on the tea and coffee but that's all.

Conscious that my reviews always seem to be glowing - I do much homework on TripAdvisor before booking anywhere... so generally get rooms at a steal and sure this sweetens every experience. Here I ventured in to uncomfortable new territory and paid top whack "rack rate" for a family room - having tracked availability for this Saturday night since Feb and it being constantly sold out. When about a month before a room eventually showed up I booked their "cancellation up till 1pm on day of arrival" and continued to track. In fact a cheaper rate only turned up the morning of arrival... but for a meagre £4 saving I saved myself the faff and kept my original booking. Given how few hotels offer family rooms it still worked out considerably cheaper than booking two iffy rooms elsewhere and having family split.

As with previous Premier Inn experiences, the staff really are the stars - reception, cleaners and waiting staff all cannot do enough for you and so pleasant and friendly - despite it being a very busy weekend with lots of demanding group bookings. I pre-booked parking knowing it was limited and this was straightforward. Also arrived an hour early due to having a 2pm wedding - and they kindly allowed us early access to our room to preen ourselves.

Beds & sheets divine. Couldn't ask for a better nights sleep - the extra bed was already made up which was appreciated! Room otherwise un-noteworthy - though doubtless some rooms here will have wowee river and bridge views. Breakfast room into cafe/bar area overlooks the quayside and you couldn't wish a brighter start to a citybreak day than watching the world go by on a sunny Sunday Morning Market on Newcastle Quayside.

Room Tip: Pre-book parking if necessary.

Perfect Location, Great Mix of old and new (Style wise)

The stand out for ourselves (apart from the location) were the staff! they made us feel right at home an were happy within themselves which says alot about the management and the quality of staff throughout.

Stayed here for my Hen weekend (8 girls in 3 rooms)

Rooms were very clean and bright - Bathrooms were also large and clean - showers powerful, beds really comfy.

Bar downstairs gets quite busy & is not too expensive - food was very nice.

Staff very helpful, willing to order taxis for you, lend you an iron and even nip into your room and turn the straighters off when you ring them to let them know you forgot lol

Little expensive so probably wouldn't stay here again for that reason (girly weekends are normally just a bed for the night so end up on a budget) but no other fault with this hotel :)

Stayed for one night for a stag weekend in Newcastle. You know what you will get at a Premier Inn, cheap and basic but I was very impressed by this one. The location is great, right on the Quayside in a large old restored building. Easy access for the city centre. The hotel was in good condition and the rooms were fine. The staff were excellent very friendly, professional and patient with the large groups checking in, changing rooms causing confusion just like our group!! Breakfast was good, buffet style and fresh in fact put to shame one I had the week before in nice London hotel. The car park was full but we were able to park 5 mins walk for £7 for 24 hrs

The staff were efficient on arrival and pleasent considering I arrived pretty late.
The corridors to the rooms are narrow, my room was a fair walk from the reception and just gave a really uneasy atmosphere- i just felt a bit isolated.
It's really noisey outside due to the pub and the constant shouting from patrons- I'd try not to stay next overlooking the street.
I stay in premier inns all the time and this one was just dreadful. It's just really noisy, tired and just doesn't feel safe when you are staying alone. I wouldn't stay here again!
