“Very Nice”
Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

A great premier inn. Clean, comfortable and recently refurbished. Next to a Beefeater where the food was very good and the staff very friendly. Watch out for Ben and Callum. Would definately stay here again.

Clean, tidy , convenient and safe. Will book again when I am next in Newcastle.
THe room was large as was the bathroom. There was a beefeater next door if I had needed to eat as well as a co-op or a mC donald. The reception staff were brilliant - friendly and helpfull.

Despite speaking on phone with Steve day before arrival ( many thanks to him for sorting out our room request) he did not mention the HUGE issue of the hotel not being accessible from the A19 the following day due to it being closed for roadworks! I cannot stress how difficult it proved finding the hotel - Premier Inn have not invested in any specific diversion signs. Check this before you arrive in the near future! Receptionist on arrival was lovely, a warm welcome that unwound us somewhat - but claimed all this road chaos (delayed from previous weekend - when they had prewarned guests - needlessly) had arrived unexpectedly night before - hard to believe - plus as they were delayed from previous weekend, why not warn us just in case?
Room warm, and very clean, but as ever with Premier Inn - facilities slowly being eroded down to save money. Fine if you get the cheap deal - not so fine to have same if you have paid the 'normal' price. One hand towel, no flannels, no toilet brush, cheap nasty soap in bathrooms - and terrible hot water pressure in sink and shower. Cannot use bathroom light without switching on fan - so wakes others around you and your companion in the middle of the night. TV on panel on room wall - so presumably sound goes right into next door - needs to be freestanding. We had kids running along corridor around 10pm, and 4 lads going along corridor into their room at 4.25am - very noisy for a while, but reception next am said they had two male receptionists who hushed them up quickly. They may have done, eventually - but sure woke us up initially, and could not drop off again. Rooms seem well maintained and kept very clean. Minimal teabags/coffee - no biscuits. Mattress was bit thin & tired and springs were obvious. Duvet was probably thinnest we have had in a hotel for a while. Premier really do need to decide who their customer base are - keep the minimal approach, charge the cheaper deal and compete with Travel Lodge. Or up the quality of room fittings etc , charge the higher rate, and look for a different customer base. - you can't merge the two - the higher cost makes the cheaper approach bad value!

Ate dinner in Beefeater on early bird deal, and got a good meal for the cost. Wide menu selection, seemed to be fresh cooked and arrived hot. Our server, Ryan, worked so hard and was great - very attentive. Staff at breakfast next am were friendly, working hard and we were very well looked after. 'Hot' breakfast was just lukewarm. For the price, there is a good selection of cold and cooked breakfast items.

Excellent location on the outskirts of Newcastle and we were met by a friendly receptionist who went overboard to help us. He checked if our room was ready earlier than we expected. He helped us make contact with our daughter who was driving up from London. Our mobile phone had died on us and he made contact for us. He drew us a plan of how to get to the centre of Newcastle by bus, describing the bus stop, bus numbers and even the price. He also provide a map of the city centre. The room was clean, warm and spacious. The child bed was of good size and comfortable. Will definately use this Inn again.

We stayed visiting my son and his wife and had a brilliant stay. The hotel was very clean and quiet and the staff were freindly and went out of their way to help us. Particular mention to staff member Steve Lunt who sorted us out lovely rooms and couldn't have been more helpful, a true asset to the company

we stayed for 6 nights and found that overall it is quite good value for money. Minor niggles were, not enough towels for 2 people on arrival, no heating on in the room, required more coffee, milk etc. The room was very comfortable, service at reception as good as usual, as we have stayed here before. In the Beefeater (next door) we found Craig the waiter to be friendly and on the ball. We ordered fish and chips which were tasty enough, but had to ask the waitress for vinegar. Other restaurants we visit usually have these sort of thing organised. Overall very good. Breakfast is served in the same place with lots of choices. It had to be suggested that porridge was served hotter. Although the cooked breakfast may be cooked to order, the baked beans and mushrooms were always just warm. We had to ask for fresh coffee as it had gone cold on one occasion. An additional toaster would be a good idea.

From arriving to leaving the staff could not have been more helpfull. The room was immaculately clean as was the bathroom.

There is not a lot more I can add, it was simply that good.

We ate at the restaurant next door and again it was superb.

I can thoroughly recommend this hotel and the eatery next door.
