Had a very comfortable stay in HIE . Room clean and fresh. Bed very comfortable, good shower. Breakfast room calm and comfortable for buffet style service. Hot food hot but not dry. Staff very helpful especially when we left a mobile phone behind. One quick phone call and the phone arrived 24hrs later. Impressive efficient service.

Upon arrival at the hotel, the reception area was busy due to a lot of guests checking in as it was the weekend. I didnt have to wait long for my room key as the reception staff were quick and efficient in checking in people.

The room I was allocated was on the 4th floor near to the lifts and stairs, it was furnished to a good standard and had an older style t.v with freeview and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and large with a shower, sink and complimentary soap.

After settling in, I went out to explore central Newcastle and get something to eat. The hotel is located near to the railway station in the centre of the city and close to the bars and restaurants, so not far to walk back. Upon returning to the hotel after a night out, I went to bed and slept like a log, the bed was comfortable and soft. I did hear the drunks returning at around 4am, but they were just passing and the noise didnt go on any length of time.

The breakfast in the hotel was served from 7am to 10am, I went down at around 9am and there was plenty of food on offer. A variety of cereals to choose from, followed by sausages, beans and scrambled egg with toast and coffee. There was a juice machine with a selection of apple or orange, although it was not working properly. If you like fruit, there is a selection of peaches and pears. There is also a selection of cakes and croissants with jam. The staff were quick at clearing tables and cleaning them for the next guests. At 9:30am the breakfast room became crowded as everyone came down for breakfast, however the staff worked hard to replenish the food and clear tables.

This was my first time in the hotel and I would stay again if the price was right. Didnt have any complaints.
P.S, The bar in the hotel is a little more expensive than outside bars but it is nice to sit and relax with a pint in the bar area.
Another feature that I liked about the hotel was the security, only guests with a room key could access the lifts and stairs as they required to be swiped to gain entry, so nobody wandering about the corridors who shouldnt be.

Room Tip: Some rooms have views of the main road and others overlook the front entrance which may be quieter.

Spent two nights for a hen weekend. Location is good from the station about 10 minutes walking also the Nightlife and shopping Centre same 10mins walking. Clean hotel overall, breakfast was okay - disappointed that there was no bacon on the buffet, the orange juice from the machine dispenser tasted disgusting it was very watery! The scrambled eggs looked like someone had been sick in it and watery looking! James on the otherhand was very friendly and helpful. Ian was also friendly and was advising on places to go. Some of the night staff namely two men were very miserable looking and unfriendly (one was muscular built) looked like he's in the wrong job and looked unhappy to be there. Overall had a good stay.

Hi, we have just got back from a fabulous weekend in Newcastle, having spent 3 nights at this Hotel. We had made a group booking and the Staff kindly accommodated us all on one floor to suit our preparation and rehearsal programmes during our annual international singing convention that took place at The Sage. Rooms were lovely and clean, well serviced on a daily basis and the breakfast buffet was constantly replenished. The bar staff were also most helpful when it came down to re-arranging furniture to seat us all together in a group! We also booked a meeting room for our final rehearsal prior to going on stage. We used this same hotel in 2009 & 2010 for the same purpose and have already made a provisional booking for 2014 due to their excellent facilities and customer service. II have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other customers and if they arrive during our stay we are likely to sing to them if they frequent the bar area during our stay!

Rooms were basic but very clean, breakfast basic but plenty and clean,

Staff anything but basic they were great always smiling and helpful nothing to much trouble everything ran like clock work.
The Holiday Inn wants to do everything in their power to keep the staff.
Will be back
Thanks to John and all his staff for a great stay
