A great little pub with a really friendly team of staff and a really nice atmosphere. Had the privilege of staging my play, Testing Times, in the lovely function room upstairs. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Good drinks selection and very competitive prices, too. What's not to love?

Thank Steve B

Tucked away up Leazes lane between the RVI and SJP you'll find this smashing little pub with its free jukie of hits and a bar selling some great locally brewed ale.

I've always found the bar staff friendly and the place has a good vibe with its regulars and the towns ubiquetas student clientele.

The bar area isn't that big but is snug and cosy with a few table and but it has a larger room upstairs with pool table and a bit more seating.

Worth checking out for fews beers, chin wag and to play your fave tunes on the jukie

I go here as often as possible. It is a very nice pub in my books, with local ale and friendly staff. It also has a free juke box. The open Mic has moved to Bar Loco around the corner as far as I am aware but I still like to go to this place for a few pints. Nice and quiet hideaway, not full of antisocial vibe killers.

Popped along on Saturday night, first time I've been here in years. It was quite quiet but nice to get a few tables for us all to sit down.

The ladies toilets could do with some signage - I couldn't find them at first as they're up two flights of stairs and no ladies sign on the door.

We went here on a recommendation on a friend who had been here 20 yrs ago when they were a student at the newcastle uni. Easy to find if you know about it, but a great little find!
Staff was friendly and didn't mind when we kept ordering toasties which were really tasty and really cheap.
Pool table is nice and cheap which is a massive plus!
Over all clean and warm a good pub all round!!
