I think this will be hugely successful. Brilliant location. Friendly service. Food menu small but perfectly formed. Great attention to detail - good bread, roast new potatoes instead of chips, nicely dressed salad leaves. Delicious home made brownies. Excellent coffee. I know this is a tea house but can't comment on the tea, however the tea loving members of my family were amazed at the choice. It is open ludicrously long hours and can only do well. One thing I might suggest (which is probably happening anyway) is that they need to add a selection of soft drinks to the menu.

Full marks to the Quilliam Bros - they've created a really special cafe in the heart of Newcastle.

Every detail has been thought about: a splendid array of fine teas, delicious food, creative posters, terrific laid back music, friendly staff, quality fittings. There is even an art gallery downstairs and a little cinema.

In short, I'm over the moon that the Quilliam Bros have chosen to open in Newcastle. The sky is the limit for this cafe. Well done.

Didn't make it to the opening of this tea house which I've long anticipated, but did manage to go down a few days later and absolutely loved it! They've got absolutely loads of teas (100 I think!) and do breakfast and lunch as well as ridiculously good cakes.. I've been more than once now and sampled breakfast and lunch - they smoke their own salmon with their own tea and have custom made stotties for that north easterly feel!

I'd definitely recommend the Eggs Royale or the Breakfast sandwich. Lunch wise there's delicious sandwiches and salads and best of all the staff are very friendly and the actual Quilliam Brothers are a constant presence and are more than happy to help out with tea recommendations.

There's a little cinema downstairs which I'm told will do semi regular (free!!!) film nights so I'll definitely be going back for these. Overall this tea house is a welcome addition to Newcastle (particularly as it's open til 1am which is so unusual and is the perfect antidote to the raucous nightlife newcastle usually offers) and I think I'll be frequenting it!

Great new tea house in Newcastle. Very friendly service, went on opening day and had delicious cake and a couple of friuty tea's. Large selection of tea's as well as coffee etc and a good food menu. Prices are very reasonable considering the location and volume, tea's come in a small teapot, easily holds two cupfuls, and cake a good sized portion. Worth checking out their website as there is other bits of interest to the venue. Would recommend a visit and will return when next in area.
