On the outside this place looks cheap and cheerful don't be put off the Staff are excellent the food is first class can't recall having a Lamb Curry that tasted so nice the portions are very good and although all of our party thoroughly enjoyed their respective meals all of us failed to quite clear our plates On the downside the rather steep staircase up into the main area is a bit of a challenge to the less mobile of us and I don't like paper tablecloths and napkins also the wine list isn't up to much
Would recommend a visit to this place on food alone but would suggest that if you were to go try to avoid the weekend only because it is in the heart of the Newcastle Bigg Market area which can be boisterous to say the least
Shiraz does a very good deal on meals between 6pm and 8pm

I am not usually one to complain about restaurants etc. But booked a package day out for my sisters hen night, which included a 2 course meal in Shiraz! We arrived here at 6pm and were seated straight away, got drinks and food ordered. Two hours we waited before our starters came. My mother does not eat indian food and at the time of booking I asked the company I booked with and also phoned Shiraz to ask if they could cater to which they both replied yes.....however this was not the case! My mum asked what she could have they offered chicken she said plain chicken? No Tandoori! So she settled with a plate of chips which she had to buy as this was not included in a two course meal. We waited another hour for main meal after our starter. 3 n half hours later we all left having hardly eaten anything and were charged more for rices and chips! I would not recommend this place to anyone!

After a night with friends dancing on sticky floors and getting bumped by zombie style drunks we decided to retreat to a restaurant to chat in peace. We ventured over the road as we where in The Big Market, with low expectations of any sort of quality. The place was pleasant and so where the staff. We settled down and made our order. What we where not expecting was how delightful perfectly spiced and cooked the food would be. So if your brave enough to venture into the City center and you would like your taste buds stimulated have yourself a gorge with Shiraz. I now visit even at lunch times.
