“Very nice meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

We went on a groupon having been to Nino's in the Gate before. It was very nice as expected and is generally an affordable restaurant anyway without the voucher. Menu is the same as the one in the Gate which has a good array of dishes and I've enjoyed every meal I've ever had from them.

“Anniversary meal - left feeling terrible. Will never return.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Took my dear Mrs out here for our 20th Wedding anniversary. Our starters were delivered to the wrong table, and their order came to us. My wife is a vegetarian, and was served bruchetta with HAM on the top after a ridiculously long wait, as we watched the other table eat our food.

Main course was mushroom risotto and chicken risotto for me. My dish was very salty, but my wife's dish was *so* salty, she barely touched it.

Did they waiting staff offer us any compensation for the wrong, late food and overly salty mains? No. A free drink? No. Dessert on the house? No. Nothing. Utterly poor service.

The restaurant also smelled like the aircon needed servicing - that slightly mouldy smell you get when you've not used your car aircon for a while.

We left and went elsewhere for dessert and coffee, and got *excellent* service even just for that, so I'm off to write a glowing review for that place instead...

“Excellent meal but dessert was anti climax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Went here on a groupon deal so already got the meal at an excellent price. We started with the antipasto for 2 which came with a little pot of sundried tomatos, 2 slices of tomato bread ( can't decide if this had been ever so slightly toasted or was a touch stale ), a few pieces of mozzarella, 2 slices of parma ham, 3 slices of salami, a little pot of olive oil and balsamic and a good chunk of lovely goats cheese. The starter was nice, maybe could have done with a little more of the meat selection but was a nice enough size not to fill and leave plenty of room for the rest of the meal.

For the main we both opted for the calzone type pizza but that was baked with mozzarella on top with a tomato sauce to pour over it ( Can't remember the name unfortunately ). This came with a small but lovely side salad with a pesto sauce. The pizza was divine and stuffed with mozzarella, chorizo, mushrooms and ham, really filling and something I would happily order again and pay the full price for.

Desserts weren't included in the voucher but we both decided to order them as, having them added on facebook and seeing the pictures they post, we were looking forward to seeing what they had on for that day. We were brought the chalk board and have to say we were a little disappointed with what seemed a very bog standard offering. Hubby opted for the chocolate fudge cake whereas I went for the raspberry cheesecake. When they were brought out hubby was disappointed to see that his cake came with no cream or ice cream, which you would normally expect, and as such was a bit dry and dense. My cheesecake whilst impressive looking and a health portion was a bit bland. The only flavour seemingly came from the raspberry sauce dribbled on top, so once this was eaten the rest was a bit bland, there was no raspberrys running through the rest of the cheesecake, and I couldn't even pick up on a hint of vanilla.

The service, as always with Nino's, was very good. The staff are always polite and friendly, attentive but not intrusive.

We will definitely go back as we've been many times before, they just need to bring the desserts up to par as they were a bit of a disappointment after such a lovely meal and used to be an excellent finale.

“Nice service / lovely food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

Had a groupon voucher to use, liked the clean modern decor. The food was very delicious, the blonde waitress was very friendly , so if the manager see's this, this lady deserves a big pat on the back. I would deffo come back
