We had booked a table for four people at 9pm on a Saturday night. We arrived bang on time and the place was rammed. The girl behind the bar tried to say that we hadn't booked but eventually found our booking. She said we would have to wait but gave us no idea how long this would be for. Never even asked us if we wanted a drink! We were then approached by another member of staff who told us we hadn't booked as we weren't on his little scrap of paper! After telling him to look in the book behind the bar he then said there had been a mistake! Another party who had booked for half past eight were still waiting for a table and by this time it was around 9.15pm. The waiter claimed there were a few tables of diners who were having deserts and coffee so we wouldn't have to wait for long. I had a quick look around and there was no one at all having deserts and coffee! In fact most of the diners were just eating bread as they hadn't even had their starters! The waiter carried on claiming that people were having deserts and coffee until he was asked to show us where they were. He eventually admitted he was lying and at this point we walked out! The restaurant has far too many tables crammed in and the noise was deafening. Surely a little bit of honesty isn't too much to ask for!!
