“Best Coffee in Newcastle?”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

From the outside, Pink Lane Coffee looks unpromising, tucked away on the ground floor of the Pink Lane Business Centre. If I’m honest, it doesn’t look much like a coffee shop, with the door set back from the lane, a rather unpromising, cramped little place. However, a bit like the Tardis, it’s a lot bigger on the inside. And much nicer.

When you do venture across the threshold, you’ll find a wonderful coffee shop, with something for everyone. The beans were from London’s Union Hand-Roasted and Bath’s Round Hill and the resulting coffee is lovely. As a place to sit and drink it, Pink Lane stands comparison to anywhere I’ve been. There’s a bench outside, while inside you’ll find comfy sofas, stools at the counter, intimate nooks, plus the usual mix of small and big tables. Throw in a generous supply of power outlets and free wifi and you have somewhere I could happily spend an entire day... In fact, it was so welcoming that I had to throw myself out!

“The best coffee in Newcastle”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

This is definitely one for those who love coffee. The coffee is a cut above the usual chain coffee shop product. You will find a choice of two espresso choices and up to four individual filter choices (slow bar) along with a particularly good cold drip with tonic which is perfect for those occasional warm days.

If you are looking for quantity then this isn't the place for you but if you want quality it certainly is. For those not used to coffee it may seem overwhelming but the staff will be more than happy to guide you through the choices.

You will also find great artisan sandwiches, breakfast options (porridge with fresh blueberries, muesli, pain au chocolat, ham & cheese croissant) and cakes.

There is chilled, relaxed vibe with an eclectic mix of chairs and tables of stools at the bar. There's free WiFi and plenty of sockets (aka power outlets).

“By far the best”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

By far the best coffee in Newcastle. Also serves unusual takes on an old idea like tonic and cold-drip, and Japanese siphon. Reminds me of the great little coffeeshops in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Perfect.

“Great coffee but ......”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

............. I'd like a bigger cup to carry out! I have asked for a big cup like you might get at Starbucks but the chap behind the counter told me that their USP is quality not quantity which is fair enough :-)

I often grab myself a cappuccino on my way up pink lane to work and I've got to say its got to be the best brew in the toon, with central bean a close second!

I've never sat in for a coffee but I do like the quirkiness of the place - it's got a bit of the NYs about it with its eclectic mix of random furniture, bench and crates.

The service is also always welcoming and friendly too
