what a gem this tiny pub is, it was recommended by a friend and aas i was in Newcastle overnight paid a visit. the beer is excellent and well kept and a reasonable price considering its bang in the city centre.
its like a corridor with a bar along one side and looks to be mainly untouched since victorian times, it really does have its own grammaphone at the end of the bar

and dont expect anything substantial in the way of food its a pub bar not foodie place

superb really enjoyed it

This is a gem of a pub with great beer. It's good to see places like this survive the move towards modernisation. Great atmosphere.

I loved it. I have been to many pubs throughout Europe and this was exactly how I would want a pub. The atmosphere was perfect for a long bar pub with all of the character, beer selection, and friendly service you could imagine. Can't wait to go back!

Depends what you're looking for but for me personally it ticks all the boxes.
A real traditional pub tucked away between the old buildings of Newcastle Quayside, the atmosphere is good, the place serves tasty ales, the staff are great and the interior decor is amazing.

My first port of call every time I'm back in the city!

...this lunch break was sitting with a perfect pint in one hand, a chunky cheese and onion roll in the other, a packet of KP crisps on the table with a copy of the pub's daily newspaper and gentle jazz playing quietly on the ancient gramophone (for any kids reading this it's a forerunner to your i-pod ).

All for about £4. Bliss.

For anyone who hasn't been to the Crown P, add it to your "100 things to do before you die". You'll wonder why you bother going anywhere else. Honestly!
