stayed 1 night on business
1- location very trendy suberb of newcastle ideal for local bars and resteraunts
2-parking very difficult not enoough spaces for the amount of rooms area is full of double yellow lines and resident parking only hotel manager was good enough to move his car otherwise i would not have been able to stay
3- rooms single was small but functional free wii fii big bonus but bathroom small panels stuck on with sealants shower ok
4-food-only had breakfast again averedge but very helpful breakfast waiter who nothing was too much troublle for working by him self
5- overall parking is a real issue needs more spaces /no problem if youre using taxis or public transpost area is ideal if you want to go out somewhere within walking distance
rooms could be better (only had a single) staff reception manager and waiter all very responsive to customer needs a little pricey for waht you get

LOCATION:
The hotel is located in a very pleasant residential area of Newcastle with many shops, bars, restaurants, post office, other hotels, the Jesmond Metro and public library within easy walk from the property. The library will let you use the internet as a guest free of charge.
HOTEL STANDARDS
From the outside, the hotel is well-maintained and lit. I stayed in room 4 which was a good size with tea, coffee making facilities. The bathroom especially around the sink was rusty and the door handle came off when I tried to open. I requested these to be cleaned and fixed. They did so on the same day. The property does need updating, better double glazing windows and repairs to cracks and defects in some places.
HOTEL STAFF:
The welcome was clinical and at no time did anyone welcome me, wish me a pleasant stay or hoped I enjoyed my stay when I checked out. That is POOR customer service.
The breakfast restaurant service was also POOR. The mangement need to train their staff to do basic things like asking if they need more coffee/tea, if they enjoyed their meals and not to place foods in front of guests without first askling if they are read for it- especially if they are trying to finish a first course. These things make a BIG difference between a quality and POOR service IN ANY SERVICE BUSINESS!!
The management also need to make sure the pipe music played -especially duirng breakfast hours- are easy on the ears and do not drowned out conversations!!
The bar staff were superb and attentive and the bar area pleasant place to have a drink.
Limited parking is available at the rare and front, plus parking meters along the streets nearby.

Although this isnt the poshest or most modern place there is always a warm welcome and staff give the impression that nothing is too much trouble.
Rooms are pleasant and clean.
Breakfast lovely

One recommendation would be to improve the coffee. they use an old fashioned coffee perculator which meant my coffee was cold and incredily strong.

We stayed here for two nights on a short break with dinner included on one night. Our room was on the top floor (no elevator) and was rather small with stains on the carpet and a stale smell (like someone had been smoking). The gap between the desk and the bed was only 6 inches, like a double bed was squeezed into a single room. The bathroom extractor and kitchen extractors were noisy. We found some socks from a previous guest!
The dinner and breakfast were rather average, but the service was friendly. The hotel is a short walk to the Metro which has a frequent service into town and around the district. Jesmond is a pleasant area with a few shops, bars, hotels and restaurants. Overall we though the standard was below a typical BW hotel (2 stars) and would not return.

I did a lot of research before booking this hotel. Did my normal practice of sorting the hotels on laterooms.com in order of price and cross referencing them against trip advisor, thereby finding the best hotel at the cheapest price. At £45 a night, this was quite a bargin. There are a few other hotels in the area, but the others I looked at had pretty bad reviews.

The staff on reception were very friendly. My room was small, but clean. The place looked like it had been recently done up. The hotel is in Jesmond, which is around 20 minutes by taxi from central Newcastle. Jesmond is a nice mature residential area with a lot of pubs and restaurants. You can walk to the Metro, where it is £1.50 each way into central Newcastle. It is around 3 stops and takes about 10 minutes.

The parking is a little strange. I managed to get a space at the front of the hotel, but there was a little wall behind the space, which meant that getting in and out of the space took a some time and was a bit awkward. I discovered later that there were spaces to the rear and to the side of the hotel. I guess though, there are less spaces than available rooms, so some guests may have to find street parking.

There is free wifi in the rooms, but it seemed to cut out after around half an hour, you just had to switch the wifi on the laptop off and on again and it re-connected.

Owing to timing of our departure, we didn't have breakfast, so can't review that.

In common with other Best Westerns I have stayed in, the walls are very thin between the rooms, so the walls seemed to shake when the next door room was closed and did hear quite a lot of what was going on in the next room.

All in all though, very good value. I'd stay here again.
