Reviewed October 19, 2012

Went for Sunday lunch (after trying on a friday night the previous week) 14th Oct .

Really nice atmosphere , attentive staff and incredible value food , Not one single gripe from start to finish. After two highly enjoyable visits, this place will become a regular for us from now .The staff are fab , so hats off to the whole crew here , simply spot on.

Ideal for a quick revival snack in the middle of Saturday shopping. Will visit again to try evening menu.

“Yes it is that good !”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We called in on Saturday Lunch time having read the reviews and have to say we were not disappointed. The welcome was warm and informal... as if we called in all the time. Special mention to Ian who was charm itself while taking our order. Even recommending places to call in for afternoon Tea !!.. after my girlfriend was seen mulling over offers in a local mag. The food was wonderful and well presented. The place has a nice feel about it which adds to the experience. The price was only £8 each as we only had a starter and a main meal. it really is a little gem of a place and we will be back soon.

“What a find”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Came accross this on tripadvisor and remembered my friend telling me she had had a good meal there. Well what can i say it was fab, great choice of starters and mains all for £8 set lunch. The dishes came wonderfully presented and were a joy to eat. The staff were also very friendly and made the whole experience great we will be back, already planning when to return with the rest of the family.

“Stylish bistro with Japanese twist”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Really interesting menu with lots of unusual, often Japanese twists on more familiar dishes, e.g. fishcakes with penka breadcrumbs and burgers with wasabi and "yurz" [whatever that is!]. Friendly, prompt service and pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

The children had dishes from the snacks menu which were the ideal size.

By the way, don't read anything into the name, 'The Stand'. This relates to the comedy club downstairs.
