“Lovely little Cafe with friendly staff”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Found this by chance when visiting Newcastle, on The Quayside just under Tyne bridge. We had a coffee & Hot chocolate which were both delicious as good as any of the chain coffee shops but with much friendlier staff. It was lunch time and a constant stream of customers most which seemed like regulars both eating in and takeaway but always service with a smile, we both had a sandwhich which were made to order and very scrummy nothing was to much trouble even for a fussy eater like me !!!! I would definatley return here next time I am inNewcastle.

“My favourite café in England”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Newcastle is now home to one of the best little cafés I've ever had the pleasure of discovering, topping my list of cafés in England, and one of the best little food spots I've been to in any country (and I'm incredibly picky when it comes to coffee and breakfast, especially).

When I'm in London, the Camera Café near the British Museum is my go-to spot for ambience as a photographer and lover of old cameras, but their food menu, while fantastic, is quite limited (their Honey Latte is must-have, however). The Diner in Shoreditch is 2nd on my list, and I'd recommend either without hesitation — but Quay Ingredient in Newcastle beats both of them, hands down.

The last time I smiled a silly grin of enjoyment while eating, purely because of the taste, was in the South of France. The time before that, New Zealand. The food here is prepared with care through the entire menu, thanks to the attention of the chef, Simon (he's also responsible for fantastic touches like serving all food on rectangles of dark slate). Maggie greets everyone with a smile as they enter, and is happy to talk about everything from the café to their coffee beans and her favourite coffee shops elsewhere in and around Newcastle. Her passion for making this little café the best in the area shows the minute you start chatting with her.

They are truly catering to the locals, doing everything they can to quickly become the go-to spot for regulars. I became a regular after my first visit, and will most certainly be going back many times a week for breakfast, lunch, and coffees under the Tyne Bridge.

“Braw Breakfast”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Had a wander down to the Quayside one morning for breakfast, and after reading reviews, decided to try Quay Ingredient.
Small but busy, wonderful service with a smile. Absolutely fantastic food, so much better than the mass produced sausages, gungy bacon, and battery eggs, served up in many of the mainstream hotels and restuarants.
Don't miss this one, but be patient if you need to wait. Food is all cooked to order, and worth tha wait.

“My fave place for lunch”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

I've eaten lunch here a few times. Can not recommend enough. From the second you walk into this cute little cafe, you're made to feel v welcome. The food is cooked for you by a clearly talented chef. Coffees and teas are also delish.
There's only 5 or 6 tables but time it right and you'll be impressed by this lil hidden gem under the bridge.
