“Brilliant Atmosphere, Great Products and Good Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Grainger market offers everything: meat, fish, fruit + veg, cafes, bakeries, cd stores and clothing shops. There's even the very first Marks and Spencers penny bazaar.
With its great architecture and bustling atmosphere, it is likely to appeal to everyone.
There are a large number of butchers displaying great looking produce at reasonable prices, and even some bargains to be had such as 7 packs of meat (chicken breast, mince, pork chops, sausages) for a tenner! Beats Tesco and suits my student budget.
The greengrocers always have a wide array of fruit and vegetables, catering even to the large Chinese student population. Prices are again very good for many things (such as 50p pineapples etc) and vary daily. Some things are a bit dearer and might be cheaper at the supermarket.
Overall, a great place to get your food shopping or just have a wander and soak up the atmosphere.

“Part of a great city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I love the whole city centre and Grainger Town is part of it but not well defined. Not sure where it starts and finishes. When you walk in the Grainger Sreet area you have to look upwards. I need say no more.

“The Backbone Of Newcastle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Grainger Market is the place to get almost everything you need from fruit and veg to jewellery repairs and a snack to eat in the cold outdoors. This is the real Newcastle hustle and bustle, the market and the surrounding town has been blended in with modern Newcastle but not forgotton, this is my first port of call when in need of a necessity.

“Amazing architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

There are some lovely buildings around Grainger Town, just ignore the shop fronts and look above them! There is also a brilliant indoor market that takes you back to a time before retail parks and out of town superstores! Also, make sure you explore the arcade and take a look down some of the alleyways that have existed there for centuries.

If you enjoy history and old buildings, you will enjoy a stroll through Grainger Town.

“Market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

A gem of a place to visit. The smallest branch of M and S. Pumphrey's coffee - the best there is. Fantastic for fresh fish, just wish it wasn't so far from home.
