As a frequent stayer of hotels for business, i have had the pleasure to stay in a few hotels around the Newcastle area.
Upon entrance to the hotel, I was met warmly by the receptionist. She was very progressional and helpful. I had the upgraded superior room, which I looked forward to seeing.
I was on the 2nd floor room 218.
Upon opening the door you felt a cold air draft and the room was very cold indeed. The room is heated by the zircon unit fixed to the wall (no radiators). Everything i tried would not get any warm air to blow out which was strange.
Whilst going down for dinner, i mentioned this to the reception, and was advised that they would need to turn this up centrally, and that they would raise this to 27*c, and that it should be 'nice and toasty' when i went back. This was not the case. It was a bit warmer and warmer air was now blowing but it was not 27* infact it stayed around 17-18*c the whole time i was there.
The room itself was nice. It had a large bed (two singles pushed together) and a wet room bathroom with a nice shower. They had a nice round tale and two arm chairs which was nice to sit and work from in the evenings. There was tea and coffee facilities in the room too.
The food from the restaurant was nice. They have a mixed menu for all tastes and the food tasted very nice and was well presented.
The breakfasts were very nice. It was all self service and the cooked breakfast would fill you up for the day.
The location of this hotel is very good. Its not far at all from the Central station, and yet i could not hear any trains from my room. It is also handy for the nightlife as is near the central city.
The staff in the hotel were exceptional. They were always very friendly and helpful, from reception to the bar/restaurant staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I am due to go back in a couple of weeks, and just hope that I have a warmer room, or that the heating is working :)
