“Great Stay. Definately be back to Sleeperz”
Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

The hotel was great value for money. Was a 2 minute walk from the train station. Upon check in my Boyfriend was wished a happy birthday by the girl on check in as when she had phoned to confirm the booking she asked what was bringing us to Newcastle and i advised i was bringing my Boyfriend for a city break as part of his birthday. We got to our room to find a lovely birthday card for him, thought this was a really nice personal touch. We had the superior room on the 3rd floor and could not fault anything at all with the room. It was level with the train station and we never once heard any noise from the station. The night staff on the Saturday night were excellent aswell (Tim and Ronald) they had good chat and were nothing but polite and courteous to myself and the other guests that were sat in the bar from about 1am onwards. Drink service was first class and even managed to get something to eat at that time in the morning.
Nothing was a problem for any member of staff from the reception staff to the housekeeping staff who kindly let us into our room when we had a problem with our key and told us just to let reception know the next time we were down.
Checked out just before 11am on Monday and we were able to leave our bags with reception as our train was not until 3pm.
Definately cant say anything bad about this hotel and our stay was brilliant from start to finish and will definately be staying with Sleeperz on my next stay in Newcastle.

We stayed at this hotel as a group of 10 girls for a 30th birthday weekend at the beginning of May. We thought it was a very good hotel within short walking distance of all the pubs, clubs etc. and the 24hr bar made it even better!! :) Staff were brilliant and very accommodating especially the guy who worked the night shift (cant remember his name), nothing was too much trouble. We did have to pay a £20 bond per person as we were a group booking which we were told we would get back when we checked out as long as the rooms were in order and we didn't get any complaints against us with regards to noise etc. Now we were VERY noisy but we still got our bonds back with no problems at all. Rooms were on the small side but very clean and modern as was the whole hotel. They even kept all our bags for us on the sunday after we had checked out as our flight wasnt until early evening so we didnt have to lug them round with us all day. All in all a good weekend trip and would defo stay at this hotel again :)

Had a great weekend in Newcastle and the staff at the Sleeperz helped make it. Good wheelchair accessible room on 3rd floor with good lift access. Relaxed bar atmosphere. Excellent location just round the corner from the Station (walking distance). Also walking distance to the quayside and the city centre. Good value for a decent city centre hotel, better than some of the more expensive hotels around the station.

I stayed on business and booked a superior room through an online discount website. the room I was allocated was the penthouse with a fantastic corner site on the top floor, double bed and 2 bunks would be good for a family. The room was spacious and the bahtroom well equipped with a decent power shower, good work area with a fantastic view over Newcastle from the floor to ceiling windows, only drawback was I couldnt access the balcony because the doors where locked - Healht and safety concerns. The Air Con stops the room getting too hot despite the massive windows. The bar area is small and quiet but the staff are all very friendly, you can off load your luggage outside the hotel then park in the Train Station car park which is right behind the hotel. Well worth a visit if you want budget accommodation in a central location

Room Tip: Ask for the penthouse family room on the top floor.

Good value hotel, right beside the train station which is close enough to the city centre. Excellent rooms and service, looked very modern and stylish. Staff were very friendly and very accomodating. Would stay here again.

We spent a few nights here en route to Aberdeen. Very smartly decorated and painted. Staff very friendly. Free apples in a glass bowl. Check-in efficient & no probz with on-line booking. Our room not enormous, but well laid-out, and very clean. A few more hangers would have been good. Extra pillows definitely needed, but already in room. Comfy bed. Quiet at night, close to rail station (we had no car). On the night of the football riots (!) we ate in the restaurant. Didn't expect much but their wine list was very good, food varied and not your bog-standard quality or dishes. Calm atmosphere, colourful art with LED-lights on walls made for good ambience. Friendly waiter, big table, slightly low banquette for table height but not bad. Plenty for vegetarians. Don't know how they do it. Hope they pay their staff well!!

Room Tip: higher floors are away from any risk of smoke. We had nice view of church spire (south or west side...

So... me and two friends (girls) Planned a girlie weekend months in advance and we done this as an enjoyable girli trip away.
We booked the family room via booking.com and I phoned sleeperz before I done this as the website confirmed this slept up to x2 adults and x2 children with a queen bed and bunk beds.
I thought that this would be ideal so contacted sleeperz to enquire whether 3 adults could sleep in the room. I was told yes that is not a problem but there would be a £20.00 supplement per person for the 2 nights, to me that meant that it was £20.00 pound extra per including the hotel amount to be paid. I confirmed this with the staff on the phone and she agreed.
When we got to the hotel they confirmed the hotel bill with a £20.00 per person (per night) included onto our bill. I wasn't very happy about this we then paid over £300 for the hotel. The staff member at the desk, did not seem very helpful and did not seem phased at all by the fact they gave me incorrect information. So instead of a cheap hotel break away it ended up a more expensive break away and a bit less alcohol to be consumed due to this.

Now the hotel was lovely i.e the decor was very modern and the cleaners were lovely and the place and the room was very clean and well presented.
The first night we got ready we had some music on this was not at high volume and it was at 6pm on the friday night.
The staff member knocked at the door and told us to turn the volume down. This was done and they knocked again an 30minutes later with the same thing.
The hotel experience was slowly turning into a school holiday camp experience and the music was turned down to minimum volume.
At night time we got back to the hotel room slightly drunk and just went into our rooms obviously talking nothing sinister. A 3rd knock on the door by the hotel staff. Telling us that we were being very loud and that we had to go to sleep or they would phone the police and this was our 3rd warning. The staff member pointed at his clip board. Again a great school holiday camp experience.

The second night my friend went down to speak to the staff member as we were not happy with the way we had been treated we are in our late 20's and we most certainly are not children.
The manager was very obnoxious and did infact treat my friend like a child. We had to then go back down the stairs to get lunch We walked past a room at around 2pm with loud noises (rude) We did not question this or moan about it as it was a HOTEL at the end of the day.

At night time there was loud music from three different bedroom at opposite ends of our room, and not one staff member knocked on there door.
We got ready with no music and we were practically tip toeing around as we did not want chucked out of the hotel as we had little to no money left to get a train home on short notice.
We got back to the hotel the second night, we had drinks at the lobby, the nights manager was lovely and the staff were also equally as nice. As we got back up to our room again a staff member with a clip board was walking up and down the corridor with a clip board.
And advised us that we should be getting into our rooms now and pointed at his watch.

This was an awful experience, I would not be going back to this hotel.
The second night was slightly better but felt that we still did not have the expected good weekend that we hoped for. We didnt let it ruin the weekend but it very nearly did.
Very disappointed in the service of the hotel.
I went with my boyfriend at the start of the year and thought it was excellent and I was the one that recommended the hotel to my friends. Not great. I am being nice giving this a 2/5

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your stay. I do notice that you comment on how lovely the hotel is, we work hard to ensure that the hotel is kept to this standard. We believe a balance is required. Newcastle has a lively weekend leisure scene and we are very well located in the city for our guests to enjoy it.
That being said there are many reasons why people visit Newcastle and Sleeperz. As hoteliers we have to look after the needs of all of our guests; part of that is asking and expecting people to act in a manner which doesn’t affect the enjoyment of others. So yes, we don’t accept loud music and parties in our rooms late into the night, which unfortunately was the main issue here, nor do we allow excessive behaviour. The vast majority of guests comment extremely positively about the friendly service and high standards that the hotel offers, and we have just won a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award 2013.
Kind regards
