“TAKEN ABACK ? SO GO BACK”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Really my sister recommended Goose to us . A peep in the window showed that it served very low price great carvery dinners . BUT we thought to go for a late breakfast . But I thought it would be a type of pub breakfast and felt a bit stupid asking for coffee at the bar . No problem . Later on my wife wanted a glass of milk . This was the classic cowboy one - line joke that makes the whole saloon suddenly go quiet " Mmm can I have a glass of milk :-) ? Please ? " And a rough looking cowhand comes to the new guy " You`re not from round here are you son ?" BUT NO they didnt DO milk ( sell it ) but I did get a glass for my wife for free . Lovely fine breakfast , buffet breakfast . A great big and very roomy " pub / restaurant . Pleasant staff , good service .Great value. No complaints and no cowboys :-) Easy to recommend to others , just like my sister did !!!

“Childrens playground”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

Had a lovely meal, plenty of meat and fresh veg, but was absolutely spoiled by children playing chase in the pub around the eating area whilst the "parents" were too busy drinking alcohol. Then the children climbing onto the Ice cream Machine. A member of staff did speak to the "parents" however this was in vain. Not the staffs' fault I hasten to add, but good food spoiled.

“Great Carvery at great price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

Ate at the Crown Carvery at The Goose in Newcastle today with my husband. We had two standard carveries, 2 desserts and two large pepsi's and it was less than £15. The carvery was great, lovely hot fresh food. My only gripe was the lack of mashed potato but it's summer so i'll leave them off. There was a great variety of veg and the meats where tasty looking.
We had chocolate fudge cake for dessert with ice cream. It was Huge and Scrummy!
Great meal!

“Give it a try!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

Few of us visited Goose at the Gardens this week in Newcastle. Its a standard carvery set-up. Pay at the bar inadvance for your meals & drinks then head over to the hot counter. The chef plates up the meat & yorkshires then you simply help yourself to the veg & potatoes on offer. We got a decent amount of meat & what veg we wanted. We'd opted for the £5.99 deal of carvery & dessert. When it came to the desserts, the ice cream machine had run out which wasn't good and my dessert left a lot to be desired. Its not a bad place for a carvery but I think its a case of, if you catch them on a good day. More staff would make a difference. All in all the carvery is nice but not fantastic. Standard prices are £4.19 & £3.69 (smaller portion) but cheaper than some places. Worth giving it atry to see what you think
