Lovely interesting building with a few floors and cafes. The Cinema seating was comfortable although it reclined a little far until I relaxed into it. We saw Bohemian Rhapsody which was fabulous and I would recommend it. We then went into the licensed cafe and shared a Greek platters do it was delicious, the red house wine was very light but palatable. We will go back soon.

I do find the desk in the cinema rather daunting as the times I’ve needed to ask advice or make a request I’ve been treat rather abruptly and spoken to as if she could not be bothered. Today I popped in to ask if the cinema would like some original cuttings about (possibly) the original owner of the Tyneside cinema and some cards relating to some interesting information on north east cinemas about 1912 1916. I was told to come back some other time. Must be nice to have such power! Don’t think il bother.

We have just attended the ICO Autumn Screening weekend here, which was such a treat having seen a film about it at a previous ICO event in Leicester earlier this year. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout and we got to see films in all three of the main theatres, each of which was very comfortable.
Their own film programme looked pretty interesting too, so hopefully it will continue to get lots of local support to ensure its continued existence.

The bar attached to the cinema has a nice atmosphere and tempting menu with quick service that is ideal at lunchtime.

The last time I’d visited this cinema was as a young girl at the Saturday matinees in the early 70s. I visited on 25 Oct to see Bohemian Rhapsody in Cinema C - wow, what a fab place. Great central location, vibrant bar with great lighting inside and out.
We had a fabulous evening.

visited the second floor coffee rooms after enjoying the ground floor coffee shop and the restaurant at the front on previous occasions . Staff are very friendly and helpful, however this was spoilt by the frozen chips and generic frozen chicken escalope, come on guys people expect better than this rubbish.

This is what all cinemas should all try aspire to. Discharging and friendly and manages to show less mainstream movies In a relaxed yet professional environment. We love it.

We became Friends of the Tyneside Cinema recently after calling in for both films and food over a number of years. We booked today to see Leave No Trace using our free visit on joining. This was in the Electra today - love the various design and seats in each cinema - today as always very comfortable - temperature perfect. Great film and acting which told the story of the ins and out of homelessness beautifully. Honey and ginger ice cream, black pepper cashew nuts washed down with Dandelion and Burdock pop - all first class. Can't fault this cinema, will always return would deffo recommend x
