We were in the area and decided to pop in to see if we could get a table. The place hadn't opened as such however we were welcomed in to wait.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were presented with the regular menu and early bird special, we both chose from early bird special (3 courses for £15) The food was exceptional and portions generous.
This place is a must for anyone in Newcastle or visiting Newcastle for either great value eats or for that special occasion.
Keep up the outstanding work.

We just got back to the US after 15 days in Great Britain - David Kennedy's was the best meal we had on our trip. We got there early enough to take advantage of the early dinner menu - just 15 pounds per person for three courses! The food was wonderful and locally-sourced. The service was friendly and attentive without being overly formal. There was a large group dining at the same time, but the staff gave us just as much attention as that group. We had a 7-course meal at Gordon Ramsey's Maze restaurant later in our trip, but David Kennedy's was still my favorite, at a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend.

Wonderful food; smart, friendly, professional staff; subdued music, calm ambience. The total bill for three of us, each having three courses from the full menu with pre-dinner drinks and bottle of wine came to £120-at £40 a head excellent value for food of this quality in such classy surroundings.

The first thing that strikes you when you walk into this restaurant is the impeccable decor, as would be expected of a place attached to an art gallery. However this is only the start of what is an amazing restaurant serving fresh and tasty food. The service is great yet not invasive and the overall ambiance was superb. I could not recommended this restaurant more, having eaten in places that are a lot more expensive and yet do not reach this standard of food. I was also told they do a great lunch menu, which is 2 courses for £10, I have to try this out!

The restaurant has a nice relaxed but efficient atmosphere, with great food. All reasonably priced. The chicken liver parfait was the best that I have tasted. So often it can be bland but here it had real flavour but was still light and smooth. My wife thought the homemade black pudding starter was delicious too. Main course steak was good quality meat cooked nicely as ordered.

The restaurant is only a few minutes away from the centre and well worth a visit.
