had 2 meals here 21st and 22nd August, the first night we had the tempura prawns followed by the ribeye steak and found them to be really nice the hand cut chips were fantastic and the steaks cooked exactly how we requested, the inside of the restaurant is really nice and the service was very good seeing how busy they were, the second meal was slightly a bit of a let down the wife had a penne pollo (main) and said it could have done with a bit more sauce but the carpaccio (starter) i had was fine, my main was the monk fish tails and prawn rissoto although it was tasty there was only 3 prawns in it and a couple of hard not fully cooked pieces of rice, all in all it is a nice restaurant i would would happily try it again but have something different

Having walked past this restaurant many times and thinking it looked great from the outside, I took a look at the reviews and decided to try it.

This is very good restaurant. The menu is great, there is a lot of choice for even just appetisers and starters, whilst the main course choice is even better. There's a comprehensive choice of Pasta, Pizza, Steak, Fish and Chicken, with some enticing dishes. I treated myself to a New York Strip steak and wasn't disappointed. It was cooked as I requested it and I really enjoyed the meal.

It isn't the cheapest restaurant in Newcastle by any means, but don't let that stop you going because it's worth it if you want a nice meal with guaranteed quality of food.

The service was very good too, the waiters were constantly tending to our needs and making sure we were getting everything we wanted. The only way I can truly fault this restaurant is the loud music. It's a bit overpowering and leaves you having to shout a bit to have a conversation at the table, which results in a loud restaurant.

The decor is very nice with a dark, sleek modern theme, looking nice from the outside and inside. There is also outside seating if the weather is nice which looked nice, however we opted to eat inside.

Overall, this is one of the must-visit restaurants in Newcastle. With great food, in a mid-range price bracket, it's definitely worth a try.

Everything was great - friendly waiter, good food and great service. Food was well presented and tasted lovely. We were given water on the table without asking and were well looked after. Only down side was when we got the bill - we went for a three course special for £15 per head but were then charged on top for the water (an extra £3 per jug and we had three jugs). Also a service charge was added and most of our party weren't very happy about being told how much to tip!

I am upset this was not brought to our attention than Tripadvisors, i presume bottled water was ordered by one of the group and that is why it was charged for, we are not allowed and could never charge for tap water. The 10% service charge, firstly it is always to your descretion, secondly babucho just charges a service charge for groups of 6 or more. We write this on the menu and are always happy to remove this, no questions asked. Carluccios charge 12.5% service as do many more, most restaurants charge 10% on groups and some restaurants in this area charge 10% service on every table. again i am sure if you wanted this removed at any restaurant you would just need to ask, any restaurant that refused would be taking a huge risk in my opinion. Service charges are quite common in restaurants i find the policy at Babucho fair in comparison to my neighbours.

So goes the old saying about sinking ships by skimping, and that's the case here. The lovely food, very attentive staff and splendid ambience all spoiled by a bizarre pricing system, leaving an impression of sharp practice, which I am sure was not intended. I ordered the Asian infused fillet steak and fries, having noticed on the menu that fries were only included with steaks. I was then informed that the Asian infused steak was not included in this, and that fries would be £2.50 extra. Seriously, folks, you are spoiling an excellent dining experience for £2.50! At £22.50, the fillet is hardly cheap, though it was delicious. It may be better to charge £25.00, and include fries, as almost every restaurant does. Not happy.

Firstly i am sorry for the confusion with your order, we tried to make it clear on our menu that the plain grilled steaks are served with chips, peppercorn sauce etc.(this is written in bold, capital letters under the the grill section of the menu) The asian fillet steak that you ordered comes with stir fried vegetables as apposed to chips, its infused with chinese 5 spice and has stem ginger dressing, i wouldnt reccomend having chips with that dish or peppercorn sauce. Again sorry for the confusion and i will look at making these details more clear in case anyone else has the same issue.

One of my go to venues whether I'm with child, girlfriends or a date. Food is fantastic. A varied menu serving not just Italian but quality fish, steak and vegetarian options. The cheesecake is scrumptious. An extensive wine menu is on offer. If you're not hungry, still visit at the weekend and enjoy the bar experience. The nearest thing to NYC in Newcastle City.
