“Great Coffee”

Unique little cafe hidden in a wonderful shop with fantastic coffee, such a refreshing change from your big chain coffee shops. I fully recommend this little piece of chilled out heaven. Well worth a visit.

“Excellent Coffee”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

Read about this award winning place on the internet, but have to say was very disappointed.
The cafe itself is in the basement of a shop on Ridley Place and is dark and dingy.
The guy in the flat cap serving rather dead pan and not too pleasant, not what I'd expected I'm afraid.
Coffee however lovely !

“Very overrated”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

I heard this place did the best flat white coffee in Newcastle! Not so. To start with I couldn't find the cafe as it is very poorly advertised on the outer shop front. After that things just got worse - the man serving behind the counter, I think the owner, was rude and surly. He quite clearly couldn't be bothered. The coffee had a pretty pattern on it but it was tepid at best and had to be drunk immediately so that it wasn't stone cold. If it had been hot it would have been very nice as there was no bitterness at all but the cake was mediocre at best. My friend and I were there for 2.5 hours and our empty cups and plates weren't taken away from our table and the music was awful - a holistic shop is above the cafe and there was someone wailing in the background throughout. My advice is give this one a miss.

“A secret underground coffee lovers paridise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

The best coffee ever tasted is crafted in this little gem of a coffee shop. The Top quality Award winning coffee is to die for and one is never enough. A must see destination for coffee enthusiasts and beginners alike to taste the creations of Joe, the barista champ. Fantastic!

“Unwelcoming place :(”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

We visited after reading good reviews on here. The coffee shop itself is quite cosy with lots of cushions and a nice decor.

However the person who served us (presumably the owner) was rude, when enquiring if they did syrups with their coffee (which I think nearly all coffee shops have now so not a strange request?!) He scoffed at my partner "absolutely not we only do proper coffee here" and then just stared.

He then spent the rest of the ten mins or so we were there loudly discussing with someone else about the competitions and awards he has won. Found the whole experience unwelcoming, which was a shame as the coffee itself was really good. We just felt belittled for what was not an outrageous query, left quickly and unfortunately won't be returning.
