“Indian Food at its BEST”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Dabbawal never fails to disappoint, I eat here almost every week having tried most recommend indian restaurants in Newcastle and the food and service just seems to get better and better after each visit. No other indian restaurant in newcastle get close to quality and taste.
So much to choose from, however I recommend you try the Lamb Biryani or South Indian Lamb Pepper Fry - just fantastic.

“Exceptional”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We went as part of a large group after meeting up with friends in Newcastle, one of whom booked Dabbawal since it was opposite the Bacchus (one of our favourite pubs).
Since we were a large group and to make things easier for everyone we had the Chefs Surprise - it was quite simply one of the best Indian meals I have had in the UK and this seemed to be the general consensus for the rest of the group, including my wife who doesnt really like run of the mill Indian cuisine. At 21pounds it isnt cheap but it is well worthwhile spending a bit extra.
Also great service from a very competent young team.

“Tasty food. Never fails to disappoint.”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

Been to Dabbawal a few times and always had a tasty meal. This time was no different.

Service was quick and professional.

Food is fresh and packed with flavour. I particularly recommend the stir fried spinach and okra side. Absolutely delicious! What I also like is the food is not absolutely smothered in ghee like many other places. So it also a (somewhat!) healthier option! Always a positive in my book.

Prices are fairly reasonable, perhaps a little on the higher side compared to some other places at around £8-12 for a main, but not extortionate by any means. Sides come in at around £2-3. Drinks are a tadmore expensive, with a big cobra around the £6 mark. Thankfully I was driving so stuck to soft drinks!

I shall be back!
