Bought a Groupon voucher for this restaurant on the off chance that we might be in the area to use it. Visited early one weekday evening. The restaurant was empty, we were shown to a table with a portable floor heater next to it. Cables ran from the socket under tables and across the floor, a bit of a health and safety issue I think. The decor is very strange, it's like a typical Italian restaurant from the late 80's early 90's. All of the cutlery is mismatched, making eating difficult. The drinks for some reason are served in plastic glasses! My seat faced the window so I had a view of wasteland and the local council estate. Don't know what was worse the view outside or in! The restaurant is located next to a social club and a co-op. Even though we visited early there were a number of unsavoury characters around!
The groupon voucher allowed us to choose from the special early bird menu, so not a lot of choice. The starters were nice, potato skins and bruschetta. We ordered three pizzas and a pasta dish. Although there were a number of pizzas with more than one topping that could have been ordered with the voucher, we opted for margheritas with onions. We were charged extra for the onions which I thought was a bit mean as we could have had a meat pizza and not been charged any extra. My husbands pasta dish was bland.
Service was a bit hit and miss, the male waiter was very pleasant but the older female needs to learn how to smile. She had the air of an aging headmistress about her. All in all, not a great experience, probably ok if you live local and want a cheap meal but definitely not worth making the detour out of the city centre for.
