“Great museum and free!”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Great day out. Loads to see and do for kids. Large museum so plenty of space even when busy. My 11 year old son enjoyed all the experiments and gadgets to play with. Even the loos were spotless. Plenty of picnic tables to eat you own lunch. Highly recommended.

“Great family day out”
Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

The discovery museum is a fantastic family day out and best of all is free entry. I came here with 3 children 12,9 & 3 on the school holidays. I often struggle to find places to go to with having such an age gap and this is a great place for all ages there's so much to see and do, they especially love the science area which has a little play area for under 5's. so while the older 2 were running round trying out all sorts of experiments the play area kept our little one happy. Working lives is great with dressing up areas and Play tyne area is great too but be prepared they might get a bit WET but they do provide aprons. Just so much to see. Lunch time! well the cafe area does get busy we took a packed lunch but if your decide to eat here it is a little expensive, small cartons of juice £1 but to be expected when not paying an entry fee. Overall this is a great place to be for all ages 10/10 excellent.

“Kids will love it”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We brought our daughter here at the weekend after she visited with the school and raved about it, she said it was so good she wanted to live there!! Like all museums it's free and is well worth a visit. There's lots of interactive exhibits and gadgets etc that kids will love and the exhibits through the ages made the husband and I very nostalgic for days gone by. Not too far from the City Centre the Discovery is well worth a visit. We spent just over an hour in there but could have spent so much longer if we didn't have shopping to do.

“Fantastic !”
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

We needed up at the museum because we had paid another day out in Newcastle and it failed our expectations, we needed to find something else and googled free things to do in Newcastle and up came the discovery museum and wow we were not disappointed, loads to do for adults and children and lots if places to eat picnics or a cafe, saved our day out ! Would recommend to all ages.

“Ok but could be MUCH better, but FREE!!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I guess the best thing you can say about this place is that it is free.

The actual exhibits in side are pretty bland, out of date and largely broken.

The room with a mini River Tyne is excellent for the kids and practically the only reason I ever venture in. My daughter can easily spend half an hour playing with the boats in the water.

Aside from this we give the rest a miss, very poor and boring for younger childen, older children and adults alike
