“Good Day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

This was a lovely day out with the opportunity to look around the House, Castle and Gardens.

This was not expensive in comparison to some English Heritage sites and there is plenty to see and explore before taking a break in the Café.

I would agree that the house doesn't have a lot to offer other than the shell (sometimes they have exhibitions) however the Gardens are Castle are the highlights.

Wee worth a visit

“Very interesting property with fabulous tearoom”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

We visited the property at half term with children and had a great morning. The gardens are magical and castle interesting but I would have liked some more information about the castle as there was little information provided. This made it hard to bring it to life for the children. The house was interesting but again lacked information to give context.

The activities for children were good, we did the hunt round the house and also made spiders. The highlight of the visit was the ghost tour which was excellent and pitched at the right level for both adults and children. The tour guide brought the house to life and gave us an insight into what life at the house would have been like especially for servants.

We finished with a trip to the excellent tearoom and had some delicious cakes.
