Good location - about a 10/15 minute walk in to town, and just far enough out to get away from the hustle and bustle. Friendly staff, efficient check-in/out process. Nice little bar as well. Pity about the cockroach I found scuttling across the table in my room though.

It pays to remember this building started life as a THF Posthouse, becoming a Holiday Inn before joining the Premier Inn stable. Therefore the poor sound insulation alluded to by other reviewers owes a lot to the original standards of construction. In particular DECLINE any room with an interconnecting door - all the large rooms down the main corridors on the left as you step out the lifts have thin walls, but an interconnecting door removes ALL notion of soundproofing. You'll hear your neighbours conversations word for word. Fumes of all description also seep through the walls of all these large rooms. For a quieter night ask for a small double down the short corridors on the right as you step out the lifts. Best suited to solo travellers as they have minimal circulation space and only 1 chair. Being smaller they also heat up faster in cold weather. Soundproofing to adjoining rooms also seems better. Hotel don't normally allocate these rooms unless specially requested.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room at the back

I stayed for one night a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. All of the staff members I encountered were very friendly and welcoming and the next day I was able to leave my luggage in a locked room which I didn't expect from a Premier Inn. I would definitely stay again!
