Dined on a dinner inclusive deal which is worth £29 for 2 people - you can have 3 courses from a set menu or dine from a la carte and have £29 taken from your bill.

Things started off well with a friendly waitress taking our order however negatives outweighed the positives.

Negatives:-

*tables far to close together. We were a couple out for a romantic meal - sat next to a young family of 4. I could touch the girl that was sitting next to me she was so close and I could hear every word of their conversation/they could ours. Not the best way to spend a romantic meal when you are away for the night for a special occasion. I feel more thought could have been given to the seating arrangements (Eg there were 2 tables both with just one single person dining, separated from everybody)

*the service was so slow it was bordering on embarrassing. It became quite awkward when our waitress would walk past saying,'oh have you still not for your desserts yet' 45 minutes between mains and desserts when they have been pre-ordered is unacceptable.

*drinks took too long to arrive - ordered a coke when they cleared our starter away and did not arrive until half way through our main.

*the main course was not the best quality - feel I could have cooked it better myself at home.

*my husband's dessert was supposed to be pannacotta with fruit compote however when it arrived it was pannacotta surrounded in mixed fruit salad which looked like it had been taken from the breakfast buffet!! This just showed the chef has no execution and it just looked horrendous:was not a good combination!

*in terms of value, I will compare it to six at the Baltic on the quayside where we recently had canapés, 2 courses each AND a bottle of wine for £29 which when compared to the £29 our meal was worth at buca plus £15 for 1 cocktail, 2 soft drinks and a side proved to be much better value and quality.

*we did really enjoy the calamari but will not return as there are much better and better value alternatives in the area.

Very poor service. Although the girls were friendly they were very slow. 30 mins is a bit long to wait for 4 cocktails. And the spaghetti carbonara was very similar to tescos value range, it also had that look like it had been sat out for a long time...

My wife and I had an evening meal at the Buca di Beppo and found the service to be good. However, the crab cake appetiser was only just OK although the mains of Salmon and chicken pizza were a tad better. Cost including drinks for two courses for the pair of us was £45. The menu at this restaurant within the Village Hotel complex was better than that offered at the Victory pub. The decor inside the Buca did provide an excellent ambiance.

We ate here last night as we were staying in the Village hotel. We were the first people in the restaurant and had excellent service & food.
Our server Laura, was very helpfull, put our starter order in first while we were still deciding on our mains, so to cut down on the waiting time. She offered advice on places of interest for us to visit (we are not local to the area), and was fab with our 7yr son, calling him by name, checking he was ok and even letting him play with the display cars while we were waiting for our food.
The food was amazing, some might say highly priced but when u compare to the likes of F&B's, it is all freshly cooked and cooked to perfection. The choc pudding is amazing!!
Would def visit again if in the area.

We returned here after a bad experience on xmas day. This was a free voucher for the Sunday carvery and we were apprehensive after the appalling xmas day meal.

However, we were pleasantly surprised! The food was gorgeous, the service was fantastic, and to make it even better they now have a magician every Sunday afternoon entertaining the kids. Our kids loved him and they were impressed with his magic and balloon making skills.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning. The staff were more than helpful and even got our kids a bowl of chips each for no extra charge :) lovely atmosphere and fab music playing!

Very much an improvement after our xmas visit!
