Booked an executive room for weekend stay. Excellent value, very comfortable room with 2 double beds. No lift and some of communal/stair areas are being refurbished. Breakfast was excellent, great choice of produce, but a little crowded when large group arrived, but fresh food was always being brought out. Didn't bother with wi-fi as this was £15 for 24 hours. Would definitely stay again.

A nice stay, room a little dated. However I got woken up between 4-5.30am with what seemed like a party in the co-oridoor. Clearly the party troops coming back from town. Other than that it was nice and the staff were pleasant.

Thank you for your feedback and overall rating. As I have mentioned before we do not work with any Stag & Hen organisers and due to our location we would recommend such groups staying in town.
Like any hotel, after a few drinks voices carry late at night/early morning and I am sorry that you were disturbed.
Please do remember that Reception is staffed 24hours a day & can assist if you are being disturbed.
Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, General Manager

A pleasant weekend stay, a couple of niggles of the phone in the room not working and taking a while to get an iron and ironing board but overall a relaxing stay. Staff were friendly. A little noisy at night but it was a Saturday in Newcastle

We stayed at the HI Newcastle recently for a weekend away, we booked a book early & save with breakfast rate, which obviously included breakfast, but on checking in we were asked to pay £10 each for breakfast... I was asked to prove I had booked breakfast & was even made to email the confirmation to her before we could check in. Her attitude stank & we soon let the D.M know.

The room was adequate, needs a refresh, food was ok, nothing to congratulate them on, to be honest we couldn't wait to check out.

Firstly I am sorry that you feel reception did not look after you. Most bookings are not made via the hotel and as such there are times where people think they have booked one thing when in fact they have booked something else. The computer recorded your rate as room only so naturally the receptionist would ask to see your confirmation. There was no insinuation or harm meant – they were simply asking to see your confirmation.
Her purpose was to resolve and understand rather than cause upset so our apologies for that.
Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, General Manager

Very DISAPPOINTED!!
We have just checked out from a 3 night stay with family, we had 3 rooms. The bedrooms are all very tired and need modernising!
We had to be moved from one room as the bathroom sink fell out and landed on my brothers foot!!
We booked for Sunday Lunch for us all and two guests (9 on total)
The lunch was an absolute disgrace! It was inedible! Good was cold and looked very stale!! It was a buffet and as soon as we had got our starters they were removed from the counter and lights switched off... Then on to mains again inedible and the food removed... Just as well we didn't want seconds!!! Lights on carvery turned off and staff setting up for breakfast!!!!
I complained to the supervisor of the Restaurant with no luck or apology!! I said I will go to the main reception to complain but I can guarantee that when I return the deserts will have been cleared away... His reply was sarcasm is the lowest form of Witt!!!
We were offered a reduction of 50% by the on duty manager.
I asked to see the General Manager this morning as to be quite honest I don't think we should've paid anything as we hardly touched it?! His only reply was an apology!!! The cost was £16.95 per head and certainly not worth the £8.50 per head that WE had to pay!! We did ask the supervisor if he would be happy to pay £16.95 for that meal, his reply was PROBABLY NOT!!!!
We certainly WON'T be returning to the Holiday Inn again!!!

When you met with our Operations Manager prior to leaving he explained that the temperature records of the food disagreed with your comments and that the buffet service was not an “all you can eat” format. Once starters were taken that section was removed as all guests had been served.
Our Sunday Lunch is something that we are proud of and the majority of our 50+ guests each week return week after week or month after month. With such a local following they would certainly let us know if the food was “inedible”.
The management team on duty felt that the offer of 50% refund was appropriate as a goodwill gesture and confident that the other 50+ guests enjoyed their lunch with us. I am truly sorry that you didn’t enjoy the full Sunday lunch experience.
Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, General Manager
