Holiday Inn Newcastle - Gosforth Park
Certificate of Excellence

Stayed at this Hotel many times and it keeps getting better. The hotel is very clean and the staff very pleasant. We stayed mid week and the hotel was very peaceful.Did not sample the food in the restaurant but plenty of people did. This hotel has had some bad reviews and the management seem to listen to people's complaints,a special mention about the housekeepers-they do an excellent job and seem to take a pride in keeping the rooms spic and span.Keep up the good work a big improvement.

Thank you for your positive and encouraging review which is greatly appreciated. It’s nice that the hard work is noticed, so thank you for that. If you think about it, there are not many jobs where people doing an honest days work, at all hours, are open to a review on the internet. The good comments do make it all worthwhile and constructive feedback always help make improvements. As a regular visitor the feedback is even more encouraging and I hope to see you on a future visit. Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, General Manager

well we came here as a family of 3.. little trip away whilst it was school holidays. first impression was receptionist didn't have a clue and was quite abrupt when our room wasn't quite ready, which wasn't a problem as we headed to bar for a coffee 3pound odd for a coffee.. really? ott on prices as we decided to eat out for dinner instead., room was eventually ready was nice n big and really impressed couldn't fault nothing .. only room was bit hot but who cares! corridor on a night was very noisy and felt as if someone was trying to get into our room.... we went to the pool was good and gym was pretty small you'd be screwed if it was busy.. overall good

After travelling for many hours we neede a place to stay near Newcastle, this place is just North of Newcastle but is a bit difficult to find as its located behind a Travel Lodge but is well worth looking for, this is our second experience of Holiday Inns and again we were very happy, the staff were very pleasent and helpful and made us feel very welcome, the room was of good size and very clean, and very well equiped, the hotel was quite warm but not a problem as the rooms had their own air conditioning, the breakfast was very good even though it was a help yourself type the food was not left to dry out or get messy like a lot of these types can, i would recomend this hotel to family and friends and wouldn't hesitate to use it again, well done to all staff for making our short stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good so no problems

I have just spent three nights in this holiday inn, and if it had been my first experience of the Holiday Inn chain I would never visit another !!!!...Very tired, dated and dirty and customer service leaves alot to be desired.
The small doubles in the rooms were small !!! the rooms were dusty with no information and indeed we had afire alarm at six am on the second morning and had no clue what to do about it !!!
The room was hot but had air conditioning which was exceptionally smelly and did not work. I asked every day for a fan for the room at least three times before getting one on the final night.
The restaurant food was okay and reasonable priced.
The breakfast was slap dash, good choice but the waitress was the most un-professional Ii have ever come across really bad hygiene habits putting her hands in side clean dishes removing plats whilst food was still being eaten, carrying clean cutlery under her arms!!!!
this was all reported to the restaurant manager I can only hole that she is reprimanded and training in doing things correctly.
I would never stay again and warn others to think very carefully before doing so ... bed and breakfasts would provide a better service ...

Thank you for your review which is tough reading to be honest. Our double beds are a standard double bed at 4ft 6’’ with the executive rooms containing king size beds as advertised.
All the information about the hotel is located on the TV as is common practice however, as fire safety is paramount this is also located on the back of the bedroom door which again is the norm and requirement in every hotel . Please also remember that reception is manned 24 hours a day & they are there to help you during your stay. I am pleased that you spoke with the restaurant manager as writing comments after your stay doesn’t achieve as much as taking the time to speak to the team when you are actually at the hotel. Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, GM

Having endured being in the executive room assigned to us - 136 - (BE WARNED!!) I could stand the heat no longer and so am posting this review to warn other unsuspecting travellers, whilst sitting in the bar downstairs to cool down. At last have stopped sweating!
Booked our 1 week holiday away in this hotel. We've stayed in Holiday Inns before and were looking forward to having a comfortable bolthole to come back to, after a day's exploring of Newcastle and the Northumberland coast......
So why is it that in spite of the hotel management knowing how executive rooms, like 136 are like a sauna (no exaggerating) nothing is done to remedy the situation??? AND we have no less than 3 desk fans going full pelt to little effect. I've had to come downstairs to the bar (where it is air conditioned) to get some relief and cool down. The room is unbearably hot in spite of the 3 fans, and I feel totally cheated.
I have to report that the staff on the desk have delivered a first class service and this evening, on complaining to the desk, was offered to change to another room that 'might' be cooler. But even they weren't sure and they didn't have another executive room anyway. But at least the offer was made.
Food here has been measuring poor to good. Dinner has been good on the two nights we've eaten in. The breakfast has been poor to be honest. No skimmed milk and the orange juice (meant to be fresh) has been very evidently watered down. I expected more choice of bread, not just sliced white or brown (Mothers Pride yuck). The cooked choice is good however.

The bed is so comfy and the room clean and presentable - such a shame about the unbearable heat in the room. If any management read this PLEASE TAKE MY COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY seems like they do know (according to the staff) and the reason they have not installed air con is because it is costly. We won't be back

Thank you for your review and my apologies re the lack of air-conditioning.
As the team informed you, over the years some of the units have simply come to the end of their life and currently the request to replace the units is sitting with our owners. The frustrations during the brief hot spell are shared by the team and guests and we try to do what we can. We have removed any reference to A/C some months ago but remain hopeful that we will have the units replaced by next summer.
Kind regards, Norrie Oswald, GM

Just had 3 nights here as a family mini break. Can't recommend the staff highly enough. Melanie on the desk was so helpful and other staff insisted on delivering items to our room that we could easily have carried ourselves. Everyone smiled at you, and the chambermaid service was excellent. The leisure facilities were particularly appreciated by our young son. As long as decor is kept fresh and the mattresses kept firm, then this is a top notch hotel for the price.

The hotel was a good base for a family weekend in Northumberland.
We drove from just outside London and the journey was just far enough with two kids in the back! It was 25 minutes from Alnwick in the heart of Northumberland and an hour from Berwick upon Tweed and the Borders to the north. Its 30 seconds from the A1 so very well located, but far enough so as not to get traffic noise.
The cheap price of the room for two nights was a surprise as i would have expected to pay a little more for a hotel of this standard. It's not the best hotel I've ever stayed in but if you're practical and in need of a bed for the night then it definitely surpasses the minimum requirements.
Pool, gym, spa.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Nice bar.
Will be staying again.

Room Tip: The corridors are LONG! If you are not as mobile as you used to be ask for a ground floor room close...
