Holiday Inn Newcastle - Jesmond
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 16, 2013

not bad at all, good location, parking and comfortable rooms. What let this hotel down was the less than attentive service at breakfast where you felt ignored, perhaps this was a one off! Shame as overall a good experience and would recommend as a better Holiday Inn!

Notwithstanding some very negative comments on the site, I could not think of anything very bad (or very good) to say about this hotel.
I suppose that is why people use Holiday Inns--because you are getting a known, very average quality and are unlikely to be surprised one way or the other.
The room was OK. Not too hot or too cold. The TV worked, the bathroom was OK
That's the whole point of these places--they are OK!
At £75, the price was also--well---OK. Especially if you are used to London (ugh!!) prices.
Breakfast was a bit below the OK level. Maybe if I had wanted to stock up on sausages and bacon and black pudding I would have been happier---amazingly people still tuck in to all that in the mornings.
The hotel's best feature is a very large foyer. I cannot imagine what it is for but it does look good.
It has a car park which is always welcome.
All in all there is no reason why I would not use it again.

From the outside doesn't look like much but nicely surprised. 2 girls at desk were very friendly. Hotel room was really clean and the bed is comfy. My room was nice and quiet and when realised forgotten toothpaste the girl at front desk bought some up within minutes. Fratellos was lovely and all bars looked really relaxing. Definitely stay again

Nice hotel just outside of city centre. (About £7 in a taxi from the train station). Modern hotel with nice rooms and friendly staff. The buffet breakfast was also good.

About 15 walk into Jesmond with plenty of good bars and restaurants.

I would definitely stay again when next in Newcastle.

This hotel is modern, with all essentials. I would suggest it is above average for a holiday inn. The bar and restaurant area's are lovely and welcoming with lovely boutique styled chairs and sumptuous fabrics.
The hotel is a taxi ride away from the city centre (about £5-£6) and situated on the main road to Jesmond. This wasn't a problem as we could have walked in about 15 minutes, just not in heels!
The only downside to my stay was that breakfast cost £15.95 per person. Ouch! I felt I did not have much choice other than to eat there as I was unsure of other cafes/restaurants situated close by for breakfast on a Sunday morning. After I had eaten another member of my group expressed they had been offered breakfast at check in for £7.95. I wasn't and so I suggest you may enquire about this when you check in.
Otherwise will I return? Yes!

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the corridors are quieter.

What a great review!

I apologise that you were not offered to pre-book breakfast at check in for £10 per person, I will investigate this personally in order to prevent this from happening again in the near future.

I am pleased that this hasnt deterred you from staying with us again in the near future, and look forward to your visit!

Stayed here as a group of 6 for a girly trip to Newcastle and we were all pleasantly surprised. The room decor is very nice and clean. You had a fridge in the room to use which was brill meaning we could chill our wine in the rooms. You also got a complimentary kit kat, carton of orange and bottle of still/sparkling water - very nice touch!

The location is right next to Jesmond metro station which is brilliant. It costs £2.50 for a day ticket and we literally jumped on the metro and was in Newcastle City Centre in 2 stops. Its also just a 5/10 minute walk up into Jesmond too where there is a strip of bars to choose from. Osbornes was our favorite! They had a happy hour on where you would always win something and had to push a button.

They also have a car park which is free right next to the hotel which is great considering the location as some of the surrounding hotels do not provide this.

Would recommend!
