A day out in a country park so close to the city centre would you believe it? Well go along with your kids, dogs, family or them all. Fabulous.

I cycle there from home. Mostly off road and interesting. The Rising Sun country park is quite picturesque.

Nice interesting walks and lovely little restaurant with excellent home made food. With good views across the lake and the park. stags can often be seen.

We like visiting this hidden gem, sometimes we take the dog for a walk around the park and sometimes we go to the lovely little restaurant/cafe. We recently had a Christmas lunch there, I thought it was a little pricey for 3courses but the mIn course and the pudding were outstanding. All the food is cooked on the premises and the portions are huge! The staff are amazing and always so attentive, if you are visiting North Tyneside make sure you visit you won't be disappointed.

Off the coast rd and around wallsend its a little piece of green haven amongst the suburban din. Quite large with fields and a walking path its a really nice escape from the busy residential area of wallsend there are also a few friendly locals that are dog friendly if you fancy a sit down or a quiet pint.
