“After a walk or bike ride, try the scones!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013

Reading other reviews everyone seems to head back to the cafe, with good reason.

The park itself has something for everyone from an adventure playground for kids, to walking trails and bike routes for those keeping fitter :)

There is a lot of wildlife around as well.

However back at the cafe the scones, cheese, fruit or Blueberry and Orange are all home baked every day so the freshest you will find anywhere (especially in the morning when there just out of the oven)

The rest of the food is very good as well and so is the coffee and we visit at least once a month now to meet up with friends, or sometimes on our own if we are passing.

Oh and they also do kids themed parties, both indoor or out ,which are different and interesting.

If your in the area it's well worth a visit (with or without kids) and have a look at their display on the history of the park from it's mining and Sanitorium days in the room next to the cafe.

“Wonderful walks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

We visited the "Rising Sun Country Park for the first time on 8th August the sky was overcast but it was warm and ideal for walking.

The Park is ideally suited for Walkers, Joggers, Horse riding, Cycling and there are 3 suggested walks (See photo of Map) Green Route approx. 15mins, Blue route approx. 25mins. Red route approx. 35mins; however you can add another 15 minutes to each walk for stopping times at several view points around the Park.

The Red route will lead you to Rising Sun Hill where you can admire the views of Wallsend, Newcastle etc.

Parking is plentiful & free and located next to the countryside centre where you can have a Picnic on the grass Banks or take refreshment in the Café.

There are plenty of things to see including horses and a Stag(quite a surprise), Dogs need to be kept on a lead.

There are no Rubbish Bins around the Park and in several areas rubbish is starting to accumulate; visitors are requested to take there rubbish with them.

Overall impression of the Park was good, plenty to see, nice walks, Information Boards in several places , well worth a visit.

All Routes are ideally suited for Wheelchairs & Mobility scooters except Rising sun Hill.

“Lovely place for a walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

My wife and I often cycle around the country park on a Sunday morning, sharing the paths with numerous dog walkers and young families. A number of footpaths are laid out to meander through the park, ideal for everyone to spend a lovely half day. The cafe serves coffee and snacks, we often have cappuccino and a bacon sandwich before returning home. The area is reclaimed from coal mining and there are subtle reminders at a number of locations within the park. All told this area is a credit to North Tyneside Council.

“A good walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

I took my family here for a lovely walk and lunch. You can walk for hours and explore the countryside. My daughters had a wonderful day and sun was shining so this helped a lot. Lots of people waking dogs and people horse riding as well. At the end of your walk you can end up back at the cafe for a well earned tea and cake.
