Regular customer of Premier Inn......we stayed here as a base for going to Newcastle races. Arrived a 10am to be greeted by a very helpful and pleasant young lady on reception, she rang us a taxi into the city and we advised we would be back about 8pm to check in. Ideal location for 4 x Over 55's!!! £10 in a taxi to the races, £3.10 in a taxi into the city centre. Underground on-site car park which was a bonus, didn't eat in Restaurant as food and drink was quite a bit cheaper in nearby Quayside Wetherspoons, about a 5-10 minute walk along the Quayside. Room typical Premier Inn standard, clean and comfortable overlooking the Quayside.
Downside:------
Pressure in the bathroom tap and shower was very very weak, tap water only trickled out and shower had no pressure. Perhaps it was because we were on the second floor.
Car parking signs a little confusing on arrival.
Checked in at 8.30pm....had to wait 10mins for someone to come to Reception, receptionist just handed us the keys, no details of rooms, newspapers, Restaurant etc.
2 flights of stairs to Reception and then another 2 flights to rooms. Lift available.
We stayed for 2 nights and would return.

Room Tip: Higher floor - had very low water pressure

We stayed here for the weekend of the GNR and it was a good choice. The location is great - a few minutes walk from the Tyne and Millennium Bridge, so good for getting to the GN City Games and other activity on Saturday. It's about 1.5 miles to the race start - we chose to walk, but other runners arranged taxis - it took us about 25 minutes and the atmosphere was great once we hit the city centre. The rooms are typical Premier Inn standard and we had no problems with any of the facilities. There's also plenty of parking on site, which is a bonus for a city hotel.
We didn't eat in the restaurant, except for breakfast on the morning of the race, which was fine. It is fairly small, but seemed to have a reasonably varied menu.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the champagne reception provided after the race was very welcome. I will definitely stay again for the 2015 GNR.

Stayed here for the fifth year in a row, every weekend for the great north run.
Staff have always very friendly and helpful. The addition of a glass of bubbly and nibbled to celebrate completing the world's best half marathon was very welcome.
The rooms are warm and comfortable and a good nights sleep is always on the books.
We'll done Premier Inn.

Just returned from here and was really disappointed with the room. Was aware that there was no air con, however, we needed heating and there was none of that either. The heater was on at the spur but there was no way of controlling it so it remained cold. The fan in the bathroom didn't work and the lever to switch from the bath to shower was missing which made for an inventive way of achieving this. We were a group booking and had paid up front and were not asked if everything was okay at check out. The rooms weren't cheap. I expect better from this chain.

Free parking and excellent location only enhance the quality of this hotel. But its real strength is in its staff. They are keen, friendly and enthusiastic and are fantastic ambassadors for Premier Inn. My (future) son in law has recently started their graduate management course so I was keen to find out what they thought of the company. Without exception they spoke highly about it and really represented the brand well. Well done to everyone

very enjoyable 3 night stay in august . free parking and very convenient location . spacious room, decent breakfast and helpful friendly staff [geordies are great people] only downside was lack of airconditioning in room which could be a problem in hot weather .the hotel had a friendly cosy feel.
