Description: Fujiyama Teppanyaki Restaurant is the first and original teppanyaki restaurant established in Newcastle Upon Tyne. It first opened it's doors to the public in 1997. It is the perfect venue for entertaining clients you need to impress or to celebrate special occasions such as a birthday or a hen/stag night. All customers have their own highly trained personal chef for the duration of the meal. Once you are taken to your table, the raw ingredients of your meal will shortly arrive and the chef will prepare and cook your meal on the hotplate surface, right in front of you. The food is delivered to you sizzling fresh. Our menu is extensive, accommodating both carnivores and herbivores. Many customers opt for one of our set banquets which are perfectly compiled to leave a pleasant feeling of satisfaction, not too much and not too little. Alternatively you may wish to customise and create you own meal by selecting starters from the appetisers menu and main courses from the ala carte menu, and some may even brave it to our sushi page.

brilliant brain wave to venture here. its tucked away on a little street. we went for the early bird menu- 13.80. salad, lovely spare ribs, soup- yukky. prawns, salmon, chicken, fried rice and veggies n beansprouts. fantastic experience to see the chef cook it all in frount of your eyes, novelty experience like a tom cruise throwing pepper grinders and salt about and high flambe fires. egg in the hat games and catching eggs in your hat, fab, would deffo go again.

“Little gem”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Not as we'll known as some of the other Japanese restaurants in Newcastle but definitely the best. Food is lovely, staff very accommodating and our chef Jay was amazing!! Made the night so much fun. You are guaranteed a good night if he is your chef. Prices quite reasonable compared to other restaurants but still relatively expensive but this does reflect on quality. Food is so fresh and tasty. Would definitely go back and definitely recommend.

“Great Teppanyaki”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

Multiple visits over several years with friends.
Typically order seafood & deluxe sets

Overall very good
-Range of Teppanyaki was great and ingredients in particular seafood were fresh with lobsters wiggling about
-Staff were very entertaining for parties and gatherings although there's only so many tricks in the book before it becomes repetitive.
-Given the nature of teppanyaki it is expected to cost more than your standard meal but their multilingual staff definitely made it worth it.
-Better to visit during a quite time and I generally prefer to have a more subtle meal without the energy of parties going about.

-Sushi and sashimi here simply wasn't worth it in comparison to other restaurants in the immediate area. Most appetizers which I tried weren't really worth it.

-Best stick to what they know and specialty in on the teppanyaki. -Ordering extra dishes on the teppanyaki was worth it both in volume and chefs are able to customise cooking styles

“Excellent Birthday Treat”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Our party, comprising Grandparents, Parents and two teenagers booked to celebrate my Grand-daughter's 13th birthday.

It was a great experience with our own personal chef cooking at our table whilst juggling and entertaining throughout the meal.

We opted for the early-bird special @ £13.50 and we found the food to be good whilst portions were not huge.they were very tasty.

All-in-all it was a fun night, ideally suited for families and groups for a celebratory meal in an unusual environment.

My Grand-daughter really enjoyed her birthday there and we will definitely return for a meal in the future.
